This 2.5-hour voyage leads you uphill on old mining routes offering panoramic views, imparts knowledge about the region’s history, and explores geological features close to Denali National Park, all while aboard an exiting off-road Fat Truck. Take note, if availing of the hotel shuttle service from select accommodations during summer, anticipate about 3.5 hours for the entire expedition.

Pioneer Road
Turn onto Otto Lake Road from mile 247 of the Parks Hwy (Hwy 3). Follow Otto Lake Rd for 1.2 miles staying on the paved road, turn Right onto Pioneer Road (gravel road), turn right into Parking lot at Denali Fat Truck Tours. Some Maps have not updated the road names posted on signs yet.

Something different and fun - It is unique. I have never been on a vehicle like that. Joel, the owner was our guide and he was just very informative and fun. It takes small groups, so
You can Ask all the questions and get all the information you like. I would recommend this tour highly.

Best tour of our 2 weeks! - Robin was our shuttle driver to and from the hotel. She was friendly and easy to talk to. Joel our tour guide was absolutely AMAZING! We took a private tour and it was by far my favorite tour of our 2 week trip in Alaska. We saw a Moose on our tour and was given photography tips from him. He took pictures of us during the tour and my husband even got a lesson in driving it. He had awesome stories to tell about living in Alaska year round. We even enjoyed learning how to spot Moose poop! The scenery on this tour was fantastic! Since we booked a private tour we went opposite of the other trucks and didn't have to make stops with other people which was nice. We would do this tour again for sure!

AWESOME Experience! - We had the best time during the fat truck tour and truly appreciated the information regarding the surrounding area and history. And, of course, the views from land and water! We were lucky enough to see moose and have great pictures!

Surprisingly great! - One unexpectedly awesome ride! The guide is very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. A very good driver and fun to ride with. The trucks are something else. Nothing not to like about this.

Can’t miss it! - Brittany was a great tour guide!! The shuttle picked us up from our hotel and drove about 10 minutes to the site. The truck was very comfortable! We saw a handful of moose and even a caribou! I would highly recommend!!

Amazing fat truck tour. - We had a wonderful unforgettable experience. Brittany and Joel took us on amazing drive. They explained about the area and told us many interesting stories. Joel took beautiful photos and also gave us few tips on photography. We loved the whole experience.

A MUST when visiting Denali - Absolutely fabulous tour! Despite operating just outside of Denali National Park, the views are incredible! The information shared during the tour is very informative and the guide, Joel, was professional and entertaining. The Sherpa vehicle is reason enough to go on the tour... everything else is a bonus. We did see 4 wild moose while on the tour which really was the cherry on top!

Omg - When we knew we were coming to Alaska we both decided this was a must do!! Well it didn’t disappoint. Awesome tour guides. Fun facts and didn’t want it to end. If your ever around the Denali park area this is a must do! Thank you for an amazing experience. Fred and Tina Brokaw
