- SƠN MÀI QUANG MINH - A factory specializing in handicrafts: The exceptional quality of resin from Vietnamese lacquer trees, particularly those in the north, played a significant role in the swift advancement of this art form. Decorated lacquer statues, panels, boxes, and trays can still be found in numerous temples and pagodas. Over the centuries, the use of lacquerware expanded to larger items like wooden chairs and tables, adorned with engraved, painted, and inlaid mother-of-pearl designs. By the 18th century, key centers for lacquerware production emerged in both the north and south. To introduce Vietnamese handicrafts to new international markets, the French established formal training programs in lacquerware at the School of Indigenous Arts near Saigon from 1901 and in Hanoi from 1930. Since then, lacquerware has continued to thrive as a cornerstone of the Vietnamese handicraft industry, both domestically and internationally. Today’s popular items include vases, jewel cases, desk sets, trays, and vertical blinds.
- Bến Đình - A local guide will lead a captivating tour of the Cu Chi tunnels, where visitors will learn about the living conditions, challenges faced, and remarkable ingenuity used to sustain life in the tunnels. The tour includes walking past large bomb craters, evidence of the intense bombing campaigns during the Indochina conflict, discovering hidden entrances, observing small chimneys that dispersed smoke from underground kitchens, sampling simple cuisine that local fighters survived on, and exploring the tunnels themselves. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit a government-run lacquer factory that supports handicapped individuals who create lacquer handicraft products, aiding those affected by the Vietnam War.
- LỤA VIỆT - Silk is a natural protein fiber produced from the cocoon of silkworms, and some types can be woven into textiles. It requires approximately 3,000 silkworms consuming 104 kilograms of mulberry leaves to produce one kilogram of silk, a process that takes over three days. The result is a lightweight, soft, and highly absorbent material, making it ideal for warmer climates. Silk was once considered a luxury available only to noble families, but now it is widely accessible, with beautiful silk products available to everyone. Be cautious of purchasing silk at unusually low prices, as it may be of questionable quality. A professional silk manufacturing enterprise supplies silk to both customers and designers in the Vietnamese fashion market and internationally. It exports fabric to Korea, Japan, Thailand, Denmark, France, England, and the U.S., ensuring authenticity.

- Rex Hotel - From a garage to a five-star hotel, the Rex boasts a vibrant history. Located at a key intersection in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, the building was initially designed as a large French garage. In the early 20th century, it transformed into a six-story trading center with three cinemas and one of the most lively dance halls in Southeast Asia. Later, the trading center evolved into a hotel. During the city’s most turbulent years, the Rex’s Rooftop Garden Bar was the venue for the infamous press briefings known as the ‘Five O’clock Follies.’ Today, the hotel’s rooftop continues to attract guests with live music, expertly crafted cocktails, and stunning sunset views over the city.
