Hidden in the heart of the Central High Atlas lies a valley, its richness derived from a past geological catastrophe. A downstream landslide once blocked the river’s path, causing sediment to accumulate over thousands of years and create a lake. This small river now meanders across a large plateau, nourishing a diverse array of crops. The local Berbers have constructed numerous villages along this expansive fertile land, often referred to as the ‘happy valley’ in the ballads of High Atlas minstrels.
