With Long Lake Adventure Company, paddlers will have a chance to explore all that Long Lake has to offer! 1 hour, 2 hour, half day, and full day adventures are available. Long Lake is a great place to spend several hours of a day traversing the lake and exploring the many inlets, two islands and the old dam that created the lake’s current shape two centuries ago.

Long Lake was the primary source of water for Halifax from the mid-1800s until the 1970s, and as such, has always been safeguarded against nearby development potentially compromising its water purity. Consequently, a 3 km+ long serene lake borders the city, boasting immaculate water and an untouched, unspoiled natural shoreline. Long Lake makes the perfect spot to devote a few hours exploring its numerous inlets, a pair of islands and the historic dam responsible for forming the lake’s present layout two centuries prior.
