Day 1: 08:30: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba - Yen Minh - 17:00 Dong Van Town (175 Km)
Ha Giang - Ha Giang is the northernmost province of Vietnam. The enchanting landscape along the Chinese border, featuring a mystical blend of conical limestone peaks and deep, craterous valleys, is arguably the most breathtaking in the country. Once regarded as the ultimate frontier for adventurous travel in Vietnam, Ha Giang has achieved an almost legendary status among independent travelers. In recent years, the number of visitors has surged, and road conditions between Ha Giang, Dong Van, Meo Vac, and Bao Lac have improved, making access to this remote region of the country relatively straightforward. With mountain passes clinging to cliff faces high above roaring rivers, and back roads weaving through forests of limestone pinnacles, it’s an ideal setting for a motorbike road trip.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Quan Ba Heaven Gate is considered one of the must-visit tourist destinations when coming to Ha Giang, the first land of the country. Also known as Quan Ba Pass, it is located in Quan Ba District, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam.
With an elevation of over 1500m and situated about 43km from Ha Giang city, this location is also the starting point of another famous place, “The Road of Happiness,” and serves as the first gateway to enter the Dong Van Ky rock plateau.
Yen Minh - Yen Minh is situated between Quan Ba and Dong Van, on the southwestern edge of the Dong Van Plateau. It serves as a natural stopping point after traveling through Heaven’s Gate on the way to Dong Van proper.
Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark - Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the northeastern province of Ha Giang, a mountainous province in the far north of Vietnam. Most of its surface is limestone (about 60%). Its landscape is spectacular and unique, featuring high mountains and deep canyons. The highest peak is Mieu Vac Mount (1971m), while Tu San is the deepest canyon (700-800 m deep).
The UNESCO Global Geopark is situated at the eastern extension of the Himalayas. Geoheritages date from the Cambrian (about 550 million years ago) to the present in seven different stages and include palaeobiology, stratigraphy, geomorphology, tectonics, karst, caves, and significant faults. The geology in this UNESCO Global Geopark reflects important events in Earth’s history, such as two mass extinction boundaries: Frasnian-Famennian (360 million years ago) and Permian-Triassic (250 million years ago).
Day 2: 07:30: Dong Van-Nho Que River–Meo Vac–HMong King Palace-18:30 Ha Giang City
Meo Vac - Meo Vac town is a highland district adjacent to the China border. The district has a sparse population, predominantly consisting of the Hmong people, who make up about 70% of the population. The Hmong people have a tradition of living on high and rugged mountain ranges.
Dinh Vua Meo - Located in the Sa Phin Valley is the palace of the Hmong kings who ruled large parts of Vietnam’s northern Ha Giang province in the early 20th century. Vuong Chinh Sinh Palace, also known as Vua Meo (King of the Hmong), was built in 1902 and served as the seat of power for two Hmong rulers. The Hmong people had dominated the region since settling there centuries earlier after migrating from southern China. The first of these rulers was aligned with the French colonial powers, while the second supported Ho Chi Minh’s fight for independence.
Nho Que River - The Nho Que River flows from the Yunnan mountains in China and enters Vietnam at Seo Lung Village, Lung Cu Commune, Dong Van District, Ha Giang. The river stretches about 46 km, flowing through the jagged rocks of the Dong Van rock plateau, creating a strong flow with numerous white rapids.
Ha Giang - Drop off at Hong Hao Hostel #10 Pham Hong Thai, Ha Giang around 17:00.
