Highlights
- Gympie - You’ll be picked up to start the day with a beautiful scenic drive to the historical Gympie Station for your one-way journey on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive. You will have time to explore the historical station and its museum, get a close look at the classic steam engine, buy a souvenir, and grab a drink from the station cafe if you wish. You will then depart on your train for a one-way, one-hour experience on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive to the historical Amamoor station.
- Amamoor - Once you have arrived at Amamoor station, you will have time to appreciate this small country town and watch the steam engine get turned around on a historical turntable.
- Imbil - Next we take a nice country drive to a picturesque little town called Imbil, previously nominated as one of Queensland’s top tiny tourist towns. Here we’ll explore the corners of this pretty little town, including the town lookout with a panoramic views of the Mary Valley.
- Kenilworth - We then continue our scenic country drive to the heart of the Mary Valley, Kenilworth, where you will be treated to a delicious lunch and drink of your choosing. Don’t eat too much for lunch, because you will want to save room for the delicious donuts, chocolates and cheeses on offer in the main street of Kenilworth, that you will have free time to explore after lunch.

Mary Valley - Your final experience on this tour will be a 1.2km guided fig tree walk through giant figs and a forest alive with birdsongs. This walk is paved and flat and optional. Alternatively, guest who don’t feel comfortable doing this walk can enjoy the creekside park nearby the conjunction of the creek and the Mary River.
We will then complete our journey with another country drive towards the coast to drop you at your accommodation by no later than 4:30pm, in time for sunset and dinner.

Our all-inclusive Mary Valley Tour is a great change of scenery from the beautiful beaches to the nearby country, which is equally as stunning and picturesque. This tour has it all, from sightseeing and a scenic country train ride to the indulgence of the local produce, and an energising guided nature walk through giant fig trees to finish the day. This tour includes a one-way train ride on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive between historical Gympie and Amamoor stations.
To further compliment this tour, we provide you with an experienced local guide and door to door pick-ups in a luxury vehicle with reclining seats and a USB port for each seat to charge your phones and cameras along the way.

Enjoy the Mary Valley Tour - We had a great day travelling through the Mary Valley with Joel’s Journeys. Morning coffee was unique and the coffee very good. The scenery was spectacular as we made our way to the `Rattler’ and the town of Kenilworth where we had a great lunch and time to explore the town with its famous cheese factory. A walk through the forest with the amazing Fig Tree ended the tour. We highly recommend the tour which was conducted in a most efficient and pleasant way.

A great day out in the Mary Valley including the arrival and rotation of the “Rattler”. - This is a well planned and very well organised tour. Joel is very knowledgeable and has gone out of his way to ensure that he researches the local area before conducting each tour. He deserves the well earned title of Queensland’s best tour operator.
The complete experience, including watching the Rattler arrive and rotate was brilliant.

You’ll love it!! - We had an amazing day out in the Mary Valley with Joel. I’d highly recommend his intimate tours to all age groups, they are a great way to explore some hidden treasures and learn all about the region’s rich history. Great value, you’re sure to love it as much as we did!!

Wonderful trip to Mary Valley - What a wonderful day out! Joel showed us little pockets of the Mary Valley we would not have found on our own. His knowledge of the local history, flora and fauna was second to none and his relaxed and pleasant manner made for a wonderful day out which we will remember for a long time. We look forward to organising another trip with Joel on our next visit to Noosa. 5 stars indeed!

Great day in Mary Valley! - Joel is an excellent tour guide. He is very friendly, passionate and extremely knowledgeable of the areas we visited.
I would highly recommend this tour it was a great way to see Mary Valley with a varied itinerary.
The wine tasting at the end of the tour was great too!
Based on the tour we did today we will definitely book one of Joel’s other tours when we return to Noosa!

Joel is a great tour guide: super flexible, knowledgeable and an expert & his van is safe, secure and comfortable. 5* - Vineyard stops, chocolate tasting, quaint antique & vintage shops along with breathtaking views, a waterfall, beautiful walks and mountain ranges. A great day out, excellent commentary and in depth knowledge of the landscape and hidden gems we never would have found ourselves.

Busy day - My friend and I were picked up so neither of us had to drive anywhere which is good when you are intending visiting a winery. The Bus Stop for morning tea was delightful with very good coffee and carrot cake. Lunch was also very nice and we all really enjoyed the wine and cheese tasting. We thought the train was terrific and would have liked to experience riding on it. The bell bird Forrest was delightful. My only real negative comment is that we should have been supplied with water especially as it was a very hot day. Any day trips I've undertaken have always supplied water. Otherwise we should have been advised to bring water. Our host is a very personable, energetic young man and we wish him well.
