Hear Manchester’s call! Embark on a pedestrian tour of Manchester, which guides you to some of the city’s top attractions and districts. Your journey begins at Piccadilly Gardens, a well-known community venue at the city center, and proceeds to Canal Street to appreciate the vivid Chinese arches and immerse yourself in the lively Asian community. Your guided exploration then leads you to the Manchester Central Library and St. Peter’s Square, where you can marvel at the magnificent architectural designs and delve into the locality’s history. You’ll also stop by the Peterloo Massacre Monument, a marker for a somber 1819 event where unarmed protesters were violently suppressed by the armed forces. Further, visit the Free Trade Hall, a place of historical significance and Albert Square, a communal area encircled by grand architecture. Be in awe of the most distinguished libraries in the UK. Appreciate the Manchester Cathedral and Chetham’s Library, recognized as the most antiquated public library in the world where English is the primary language.

walkmanchester.com - John Alker guided us around the town and certainly joined up the historical and cultural “ dots” of Manchester through the ages. He was very informative with fun and a sense of humour. The information went on for an hour after the scheduled finish of the tour
