It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King.
Occupying over 10.5 hectares, the Castle offers a varied day out for visitors, including a visit to the magnificent State Apartments and St George’s Chapel. The Castle’s State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the Castle’s royal occupants, particularly those of Charles II and George IV.

If you decide not to include admission to Windsor Castle, you will have free time in Windsor town.

  • St. George’s Chapel - St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England, is a chapel designed in the high-medieval Gothic style. It is both a Royal Peculiar, a church under the direct jurisdiction of the monarch, and the Chapel of the Order of the Garter. Seating approximately 800, it is located in the Lower Ward of the castle. (If option selected.)
  • Stonehenge - Step back 5,000 years in time to prehistoric Britain as our guide helps bring the history of this fascinating monument to life. Who built Stonehenge? Why was it built? Discover the answer to these questions and the monument’s fascinating link to the Summer and Winter solstice. Come face-to-face with a 5,500-year-old man and visit the world-class exhibition centre, with 250 ancient objects on display. (If option selected.)
  • Sheldonian Theatre - The Sheldonian Theatre, located in Oxford, England, was built from 1664 to 1669 after a design by Christopher Wren for the University of Oxford. The building is named after Gilbert Sheldon, chancellor of the University at the time and the project’s main financial backer.
  • Bodleian Library - The Bodleian Library is the main research library of the University of Oxford, and is one of the oldest libraries in Europe. With over 12 million items, it is the second-largest library in Britain after the British Library.

Our England Adventure - Our guide Mel made all of the difference. He was informative, funny and very accommodating. He made great decisions that helped save time getting to the sites which allowed us more time. If we were to do this again we would absolutely want him as our guide. For the overall experience, it exceeded all of our expectations. Just be aware this is a world wind tour, so use your time wisely and make sure your back at the bus in time.

It was ok.. - Did this tour and while the places we went to were fantastic, the tour itself was just fine. I wish we could have had more time at Windsor, and we literally jogged through Oxford as we had less than 40 min there. Liam was a friendly, good driver. Overall, Angela was not very friendly or personable as other tour guides we have had. She was a bit like a surly school marm. She was mostly knowledgeable on her history, but she did make some gaffs like mentioning at Windsor, Elizabeth I was the daughter of Henry and Catherine of Aragon, instead of Henry and Anne Boleyn. It took her a bit to realize she misspoke. We did pass several other guides whilst on the same tour who seemed jovial and cheery, making their travelers laugh and such. Our tour was very dry. For as much money as we spent, we wish it would have been less rushed overall and a tad more relaxing.
