Just to the left of the main entrance gates on Great Russell Street, opposite starbucks. Anthony Matthews guide will meet you there, i am completely bald. Do see the photo where to meet. Please be at least 10 mins early on the 10.00 am tour so we will be one of the first inside.

If you're going to the British Museum, book this tour! - Tony is a retired archaeologist in addition to a Blue Badge Guide, and it was such a cool experience to hear about the science behind the artifacts, have him explain how certain items were excavated and acquired by the museum (its crazy how many items had crowbar marks!), and have him translate ancient languages for us from walls, a sarcophagus, and even the Rosetta Stone. If you're interested in the science and other processes behind how we get our understanding of history, you'll love this tour! We booked 2 of the 3 hour British Museum tour on Voator back to back to make a 6 hour tour day and it was an incredible wealth of information.

Perfect Private British Museum Tour! - Anthony was amazing - he managed to engage not just my husband and I, but also my tween son and teenage daughter. It felt like an insider British Museum tour of ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Britain (right with the interests of my kids) AND included a healthy dose of what "real" archaeolgy is like. My son called it one of the highlights of the trip. Don't hesitate to book!

Help yourself and hire Anthony - Just having a guide for a massive museum was a tremendous help but Anthony in particular was knowledgeable and personable. He took the time to ask us what we wanted to see then tailored his tour around our questions and objectives. Anthony himself is an archaeologist by trade, so having his expertise was invaluable. Highly recommend.

Incredible Time. - Tony was an absolutely wonderful tour guide. He was smart, knowledgeable, funny, and great with the entire family. (Our 13 and 15 year olds had a great time with him too.) I feel like I learned a ton and really left the British Museum feeling like I had seen the highlights and hadn't missed anything I would later regret not seeing.
I'd hire him again in a second. Completely wonderful tour guide. You'll love him.

Great private tour of British Museum for family with teenagers - Anthony gave us an engaging, witty and informative tour of the museum this week. We appreciated his story-based approach, and we all left feeling much more appreciative of the Roman, Greek and Egyptian civilizations. Our party included two adults and two teenagers, and his tour was well-crafted for our varying interest levels.

Beyond our expectations! - We had Anthony as our guide and truly had the most knowledgeable ancient history guides… he is not only an archeologist but is also pursuing his doctorate!! What’s even better than his tremendous knowledge of ancient history, he captivates the tour with amazing stories of Ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt. Our 2.5 hour tour flies by because he was fascinating in how he shared stories to the artifacts at the beautiful British Museum. We highly recommend this tour and ask for Anthony!
