Fun way to learn about Jack the Ripper - I debated on giving this four stars, but our tour guide was so fantastic I bumped it up to 5. It was a great tour full of interesting information. The ripper vision aspect really helped since the entire area has been built over by modern buildings so it is a little hard to visualize what it looked like during that time. The best part of our tour was at the end when Mick took us to a pub where he had a projector set up where he showed us more information about the tour. My kids thought he was pretty awesome and bought his book because they loved his storytelling. The only complaint I have is that the groups were very large and there were a lot of competing companies around the route that made it a bit busier than I would have preferred.

Captivating, immersive tour - Incredibly fascinating tour. Led by an incredibly immersive and engaging tour guide, Andre. Truly a gripping experience full of facts. ‘Ripper Vision’ was a unique addition and added to the experience! Overall, extremely well-crafted tour, definitely one to embark on!

Whitechapel Jack the Ripper-Vision Tour - The guide was knowledgeable and informative and during the entire tour expressed his strong- concerns regarding the treatment of the victims by the both the public and the police because these women were deemed as prostitutes and therefore not treated with either the respect or the dignity they deserved as victims of such heinous violence. However, near the very end of the tour, he proceeded to show extremely graphic police photos of two of the victims. There was a warning that some people might possibly find them offensive but that does not cover it. They were beyond anything I could have imagined and I was both shocked and very distressed that he displayed them like a trophy and the highlight at the end. I wanted to say something and somehow defend the dignity of these women who had already lost so much, but had no words at the time. I had trouble sleeping for a week. I think that him doing this was in itself extremely disrespectful to these women and their families, never mind all women. There was a young boy of about 12 years old in our group and had it have been my son that was shown that I can tell you I would have been horrified and very angry. It was an unnecessary thing to do and in no way adds anything the tour.

Not a good one - The tour was not a good one. It was supposed to have a continuous video show, that did not happen. Guide was not engaging or entertaining at all. Started out with about 40 people...by the time we snuck away, there was maybe 15.

Pretty poor really. - Did the tour on Sunday 30th July 2023 with Rob (guide.) Having done other historical tours elsewhere (eg the excellent Mad Alice tour in York) I was hoping for a wee bit of 'oomph' and 'pzazz', something to make it a bit 'special', maybe even the guide dressed up in some kind of period costume. None of that sadly. All a bit crowded and congested at the start, trying to check tickets on a busy pavement and then split up the groups. Then late-comers arriving once we'd started out and having their tickets checked. Clearly these tours are popular as we kept criss-crossing different groups as we went about. That meant trying to find space to be talked to. I chuckled at one point (near Brick Lane) as we're stood outside a housing estate car park... in amongst a vermin trap, empty beer cans, dog mess, general litter, a pile of sick and some used needles! Rob's 'script' was fine, just no real enthusiasm or delivery. Also not helped with there being various different nationalities. So, most English visitors could quite easily understand working-class conditions in Victorian British cities. But this was rather laboured, to accommodate those overseas visitors who perhaps couldn't 'visualise' life in poorer urban communities at that time. As for 'Ripper-vision', it's a mobile hand-held projector. So, on the three occasions it came out, it gets switched on, wait for the boot-up screen, stick the pen drive in, access the relevant folder from the menu screen and then show a few images, pointed up at the under-hang of a ceiling or the side of a shop. All whilst wobbling the projector a bit as you hold it, to get a bit of a sea-sick feeling! So, it was a pleasant-enough walk around a bit of London that we weren't familiar with. But could have been far far better.

No atmosphere - Sadly not worth the money . The tour guide was very knowledgable but the tour failed to capture the atmosphere of the time .. many of the places where the victims were found have been reconstructed into modern day office space .. so the atmosphere was lost ..

Jack the rip-off - If you want a group of 70+ people where you can't hear anything, this is perfect for you. Guide was in all defence good. However, we only heard around 10% of what he said due to the number of people on the tour. The guide was knowledgeable, but to find out anything more than the basic information, he would rather you buy his book, which you can conveniently buy at the end of the tour. Might be different during a weekday but wouldn't bother on a weekend.

Waste of Time - I hate to say that I think that this tour was a waste of time. On the bright side, it was fun to learn about Whitechapel and see a location we hadn’t seen yet and the tour guide was enthusiastic! However, there was an insane amount of people (to the point where it was hard to hear and all we could think about) and the area we met in was confusing and slightly uncomfortable, with us immediately being asked to buy merchandise from what seemed like an unrelated source. The projector (ripper vision) was not useful and was hard to see, and dare I say, pointless. I don’t think the tour was worth the cost and I think if we had chosen a different ripper tour we would have been happier.

Eh, take it or leave it. - Mick was our tour guide, and while he was very knowledgeable and kind, there were several things that made this tour not the greatest. First off, he walked soooo fast in between sites. I’m 40 years old and in relatively good shape, and there were times that I literally had to jog to keep up with him. Several times, some older people in our group commented on how incredibly fast he was walking and how they couldn’t keep up. Although he did wait for everyone at the next stop, it was a little ridiculous. The other thing that was a bummer about the tour is that almost every single spot “no longer exists” because of modern architecture. We had 1 spot we stopped at that was still there, but every single other spot was a brand new building or the original spot was gone, sometimes we would even not even stop at the spot, but he would point out that we were going to walk by and to take notice then we’d walk right past the area and not even stop. It was honestly kind of pointless. The 2 or 3 slides that he showed us on the “projector” were a nice treat, but I felt like that was something that was under utilized on the tour, and instead 75% of the pictures shown were in a folder that the guide carried with them. I feel like while there are obstacles with keeping this tour going so long after Jack the Ripper, it definitely could be better and could use a fusion of creativity to make the tour more interesting.

Not worth it - There were too many people at least 25. You couldn’t hear the guide and he had black and white photos held upon the dark that you could t see. We left. Not worth the money or time
