Join us on a journey through a millennium of history, where you’ll encounter monarchs, resurrectionists, Charles Dickens, a ghost from the 1700s, and William Wallace, more famously known as Braveheart (and discover why he was hardly in the position to yell ‘Freeeedoooommmm!’ at his execution!)
During our guided walk, we’ll explore the districts around Smithfield, which for hundreds of years was London’s hub of both human and animal butchery. We’ll discover how the metropolis dealt with the mass disposal of Black Death victims in the 1300s, delve into the execution techniques of the Medieval times, and learn how this neighborhood evolved into a notorious ghetto that inspired Dickens’s Oliver Twist.
Our walking expedition starts outside Barbican Station, concludes close to Farringdon Station, and will span approximately two hours. The total route is nearly two miles long.
To ensure an optimal experience for all participants, ticket sales will be restricted to roughly ten people.
