Highlights
  • Murallas del Albayzin - The Albaycín is one of the ancient nuclei of Muslim Granada, together with the Alhambra, the Realejo and the Arrabal de Bib-Arrambla, in the flat part of the city.
It was a neighborhood where about 40,000 people resided, and there were about 30 mosques. Its streets are winding, narrow and elusive; its squares are luminous, secluded and intimate; its palaces, mansions and churches are brimming with history and art.
There are still remains of mosques, minarets, Spanish-Muslim cisterns and above all a very Andalusian essence and a taste of everyday life, bustling and cheerful.

In the Albaycín there are abundant cármenes, which are houses with gardens, typically Granada and Mudejar towers. The viewpoints of San Nicolás and San Cristóbal offer magnificent views of Granada and the Alhambra. There are still remains of mosques, minarets, Spanish-Muslim cisterns and above all a very Andalusian aftertaste and a taste of everyday life, bustling and cheerful.

  • Sacromonte - Sacromonte is a picturesque and idyllic place and is the traditional suburb of the gypsies of Granada. They speak in caló. Originally from India, they arrived in Spain in the 15th century, after wandering around Europe and Africa.

The reddish, dry hill, bristling with pitas and prickly pears offers panoramas of indescribable beauty: the Alhambra towers, the white slopes of the Albaicinero farmhouse and the greenery of the Valparaíso Valley through which the Darro runs.
The caves of Sacromonte are grouped around ravines, forming a kind of streets.

The caves of Sacromonte in Granada have been home for centuries to gypsies, bohemians and flamenco artists. Soul possessed of deep passions and dark mysteries that are expressed in the spectacle of their Zambras. In the distribution of caves we usually find the kitchen at the entrance next to the dining room. and one or two bedrooms, according to your possibilities and those of the land.

The best way to learn about the Albayzin and Sacromonte Neighborhoods! - Amazing tour of the Albayzin and Sacromonte neighborhoods! Our guide Marc was awesome. We learned about the history of the neighborhoods, legends and inside stories on the locals know about. Marc was very personable and has a great technique of engaging his guests in fun and interesting ways. Lots of laughter.

Romantic sunset walk along ancient cobblestone streets - Albaycin is the oldest neighborhood in Grenada, even predating the Alahambra. It’s a lovely area with many narrow cobblestone streets sometimes with stairs stretching over the hills. It’s very easy to get lost & having a guide to show us the way while giving us the history was helpful. It contains miradors with great views over Grenada & the Alahambra, especially at sunset. We weren’t required to rush either along the walk nor at breaks to take pictures.

Great tour! - We had a brilliant tour of the essentials of Granada and lower Albacin with our tour guide Mark. He made the tour very interesting, was very knowledgeable about the history and he also made the tour fun. We also had a great tour of Albacin and Sacremonte with Ruben. He was very knowledgeable and could always answer many questions. For free walking tours this was great. Both tours were in English and both tour guides spoke the language very well. I would recommend to book on to these tours if you are in Granada a short time and would like to learn about the city and surrounding areas with other people.

Great tour with enthousiast guide - We had a great tour in Albayzin and Sacromonte with a guide (sorry we forgot her name) who lived in the neighborhood. She was really enthousiast and had a lot to tell. Because our tour was at 16h we could enjoy the beautiful sunset in Sacromonte. Recommended.

Historic Walking Tour - Juana was a great guide. This is a walking tour up and down the streets of these historic neighborhoods. Lots of inclines and stairs but not super intense. It’s a reasonable pace.

NICE AFTERNOON IN GRANADA - The girl who accompanied us gave us quite a few explanations about the history of the city and was also open at all times to any type of question that we wanted to ask her.

Fab tour - We went on the ‘free tour’ with Raymond. It was an excellent way to experience the city. On these tours you pay at the end what you think it is worth. I thoroughly recommend this tour as a way to see and understand some of the city’s history.
