Untitled-3

THE GOCTA WATERFALL

Duration: 8 hours.

We will begin our journey at 8:30 am, driving to the village of Cocachimba, which is an hour’s distance from Chachapoyas. From there, we will embark on a two-hour walk to the splendid Gocta Waterfall (measuring 771 meters tall and ranking as the third tallest in the world). As we navigate, we’d come across cane fields, a traditional crushing mill, and be able to admire the regional flora and fauna. With the majestic Gocta Waterfall as our ceaseless backdrop, we will eventually arrive at its base.

Here, you will have the opportunity to marvel at the sights, capture photographs, and engage in other activities. Subsequently, we will return to Cocachimba for a local lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll head back to Chachapoyas.

Not to be missed… - Reputedly the third highest waterfall in the world (and disregarding the volume of water), do fit this natural wonder of the world into your program if you can. Taking that as a given, know that to walk the trail there and back comfortably requires five hours. Take an umbrella-the weather can change quite rapidly. Equally, the volume of water in the falls can quadruple after heavy rain. The route can get muddy – you can hire boots for three soles. Do not be dragooned into paying 100 soles for a group tour-it is quite in order to walk the trail solo. And there it is-enjoy!
