As a marine biologist with a deep-seated love for the ocean, the allure of the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary was irresistible. Boarding the Privateer IV, I was immediately enveloped by the bustling energy of Gloucester’s working waterfront. Fishing boats unloaded their catch, lobster men prepared their traps, and the air was filled with the cries of seabirds. The anticipation was palpable as we set off on our journey.

The Privateer IV, designed for 300 passengers but comfortably accommodating only 150, ensured a spacious and relaxed atmosphere. As we cruised through Gloucester Harbor, the sights and sounds of the harbor faded into the distance, replaced by the vast expanse of the open ocean.
