Starting from your accommodation we head to Tepelena, a small town in Southern Albania, well known for its rich history, and Ali Pasha’s castle overlooking the Vjosa Valley. We start climbing the famous Benca River deep Canyon, were an old stone aqueduct waits to be photographed as we climb the serpentine track on the slope of the mountain to reach Progonati’s Canyons. We reach the village by lunchtime were traditional dishes and organic food will be served and tasted. We take photos as we enjoy the fascinating view of the Canyons. We visit Nivica and the ancient castle. We hit an off road track to Golem on steep rocky terrain negotiating mountain slopes and narrow valleys until we reach the village. After a short break we drive down to Picar on a panoramic road among mountains and deep valleys till we reach Drino’valley. We enter the river and enjoy technical driving in its bed. As the sun sets we get back to Gjirokastra.

Setting out from your lodging, we journey to Tepelena, a quaint town in Southern Albania, renowned for its historical richness, and the castle of Ali Pasha that offers a panoramic view of the Vjosa Valley. We commence our ascent of the famed Benca River deep Canyon, where an ancient stone aqueduct beckons to be captured on camera. We journey up the winding trail on the mountainside to arrive at the Progonati Canyons. Arriving in the village around midday, we savor traditional dishes and organically sourced meals. We capture the breathtaking magnificence of the Canyons in photographs. We pay a visit to Nivica and the historic castle. An off-road trail takes us to Golem, through rugged landscapes, dealing with steep mountain gradients and traversing narrow valleys to reach the village. Following a brief respite, we journey downwards to Picar, traversing a scenic route bordered by majestic mountains and vast valleys until we arrive at the Drino Valley. Entering the river bed, we engage in technical driving. As dusk falls, our return journey to Gjirokastra commences.
