- Pyramids of Giza - Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by an Emo Tours guide, who will take you to the Giza Pyramids for a half-day tour. Here, you’ll visit the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza complex, located near present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, which is now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site has not yet been excavated.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple has yielded several statues of Khafre, some of which were found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure, known as Mykerinos to the ancient Greeks (c. 2532–2503 BC), built the third of the three large Giza Pyramids. He was likely the son of Khafre and the grandson of Khufu. Menkaure’s pyramid is the smallest of the three, with a base area less than a quarter of the others and an original height of 65 meters. This smaller size is due to several factors, including limited space on the Giza Plateau and the use of granite for the outer casing, which was quarried in Aswan, over 800 km away. The bottom quarter of the casing stones is made of granite, while the rest is limestone.
- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly known as the Sphinx of Giza or simply the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a pharaoh’s head. Facing directly from west to east, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The Sphinx’s face is generally believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre.
After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
- Gizeh Plateau - The Giza Plateau is a limestone plateau in Giza, Egypt, home to the Fourth Dynasty Giza pyramid complex, which includes the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex. It is the northernmost part of the 16,000-hectare Pyramid Fields in the Western Desert edge of the Nile Valley, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis. The plateau is approximately 60 meters above sea level.
