Exceptional Tour - Our tour with Wild Atlantic Tours was exceptional. Our driver, Pavel, played a big part in making it so. He gave us a lot of information about Galway and the surrounding areas. He was humourous, engaging and very informative. The tour had just the right number of stops. And having two hours at the cliffs was perfect. My wife and I really enjoyed the day.

Crazy Weather - The weather wasn’t the greatest but Phil made the trip fun for us. His local knowledge was refreshing and he taught us quite a bit of history. He provided a number of Irish language words and phrases throughout the day. We visited a few castles that had been around for hundreds of years and shared local lore. The cheese shop we visited had exceptional cheese and chocolate sourced with local ingredients. The weather was truly awful but the views of the countryside were many shades of beautiful green. Cows and small sheep were thriving throughout the hillsides. We made some stops for food and beverages at small family owned spots. The Burren was otherworldly even in the rain. The landscape was spectacular. I really appreciated Phil’s local connections to the staff and proprietors of local establishments. He gave whiskey recommendations and local Galway spots for food and music. Due to the weather The Cliffs of Moher were a bit obscured. The high winds and rain made viewing an adventure but Phil prepared us for it. There was a visitor center which was a welcome refuge from the wind. It had local history clips and wildlife photos as well. We were happy to visit a few gift shops and jewelry stores to get out of the rain. We traveled down along the wild Atlantic Way and took in all the beauty even with the rain. On the way back we made a convenience stop at a local pub. It was a fun time seeing the local beauty and meeting local folk. Upon our return to Galway there were some street closures due to a parade but we were close to our pick up spot. It was a great experience.

Good trip even with gale force winds - Worth the time. Drive very informative and knowledgeable. Bus was full but comfortable. Our trip was on a very windy day. The wave were beautiful and fierce. Enjoyed the stops along the way.

Dissapointing Tour Day - this tour has a lot of potential but unfortunately lack of communication made it a disappointment. let’s start with what was good: the bus is spacious and comfortable. the driver navigated the roads well and it was a lovely drive through the countryside. the chocolate factory was a cute bathroom stop with a little added insight into the area. the pub for lunch had delicious food, all locally sourced. unfortunately, the day we went there was rain forecasted for the afternoon. it was a clear morning but due to the initial stops on the tour, we didn’t arrive to the cliffs until 2pm. when there, it was pouring rain and fog and we couldn’t see the cliffs at all. in re-reading the posting, we noticed that the description of what to expect states you go to the cliffs first and then see other tour stops on the way back, but the detailed itinerary is flipped (tour stops and lunch first, then cliffs). in addition to not modifying the itinerary, there was really no acknowledgement of this disappointment from either the guide nor the company in their responses to other guests comments i’ve seen posted here. the weather is, of course, out of the tour company’s control, but be sure to note if you are considering this company, there seems be no flexibility in the set itinerary for weather predication that allow you to see the main attraction. I would not book with this tour again.

Poorly planned, weather forecast & more flexibility - This morning, the weather was clear when we left Galway. The forecast promised rain for the afternoon . The bus tour made several stops before we arrived to the Cliffs of Moher around 2 o’clock. The stops totaled about two hours or a little more. There was not a toilet on the bus, so in my opinion one stop was necessary. It would’ve been more efficient if there was a toilet on the bus. The bus itself was very large and comfortable. I am not sure why that accommodation was available. When we finally arrived at the Cliffs, it began to pour rain. We were unable to see the Cliffs, and everyone on the bus was soaked all the way back to Galway. Our bus driver/travel guide, Pavel was good. He drove safely and managed his two jobs with grace. More flexibility in the planning would have made all the difference in this trip. The Cliffs of Moher were supposed to be the highlight. Needless to say, it was a big disappointment to spend a day on the bus and not see the Cliffs. This could have been remedied by going there straight away and visiting the other stops upon our return. One person‘s daughter from our bus had visited the cliffs just one hour before us. Her tour had sunny weather and they were able to see everything. Given the forecast, our bus should have visited the Cliffs. I am disappointed that it did not.
