If we could give 10 stars, we would! HIGHLY recommend! - Dr. Sorrell did a marvelous job of painting a colorful story of the history of persons of African descent in Galveston. She went above and beyond to bring many historical sites to life throughout the tour and painted a vivid picture of what life was like for Galvestonians. The van was very clean and cool with A/C, which is definitely needed on a hot spring or summer day on a tropical island. If my husband and I could give 10 stars, we would! Needless to say, we highly recommend this tour if you/group want a deep dive into history beyond what is written in textbooks.

Entertaining and informative tour - Araminta was an excellent tour guide and was so knowledgeable and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of Galveston as it pertained to Blacks over the years and being able to view historic sights. Araminta was extremely accommodating and willing to stop anywhere we indicated that we’d like a picture.

Amazing - Our tour guide went above and beyond! Here dedication to sharing the history of Galveston and Juneteenth is literally unparalleled as she is the only tour operator on this holiday and event in Galveston. She was sweet, accommodating, transparent, and offered to take pictures of our group at some of the stops. We hate we could make it to the Ashton villa because it closed a bit early but it was still an amazing tour that alone made me want to come back to Galveston!

Take this Tour - Engaging and Informative - This was an amazing, informative tour. I highly recommend everyone that visit Galveston Island take this tour. Dr Sorrell was excellent and engaging in sharing the history of Galveston, Juneteenth and about the history of slavery in Texas and the liberation of the slaves in Texas. I learned so much and things I did not know about Mexico's role in supporting slaves and their freedom. This is a must take-tour. Believe me you will be so glad that you did.
