Amazing, Educational, Eye Opening, and Inspiring - Dr. Sorrell was great. I have been to Galveston before, but never like this. My out of town friends and I joined Dr. Sorrell for the Juneteenth Freedom Trail Tour. We visited many African American historical places on Galveston Island coupled with rich anecdotal stories that brought history to life. Stopping by the Nia Cultural Center was a true bonus and will be visited again at a separate time. I would bring other friends for the tour when they come in town.

American Historical Experience Gem - The mural on the side of the Nia Cultural Center is spectacular! Lots of historical references. Jack Johnson's statue and park were also nice but the park had a lock on the fence and we sadly could not enter for up close photos.

Excellent historical experience - Our tour guide was so amazing. We not only got a lot of history about Juneteenth, we got a lot of history about the surrounding area. From a detailed understanding of the Absolute Equality mural to the Nia Cultural Center, to the importance of the various churches in the area.
