The catastrophe of 1900 is remembered as the most horrific natural disaster in the history of the United States. Without prior warning, a storm hit the city of Galveston on 8th September 1900, changing its face forever.
The immense loss was felt with deaths ranging between six and twelve thousand individuals. Residential areas were reduced to unidentifiable rubbles. A wall made from the resulting debris, standing 20 ft tall, was the only thing saving the Historic District from total destruction. Even after a century, the standing structures are the sole witnesses to the tragic 1900 Storm’s wrath.
I invite you to embark on a 2-hour expedition with me to uncover the tales of this storm. Listen to intimate accounts of survival and multitude sorrow as we explore the exact spots where this history unfolded 122 years ago!
