Gaeta

Since 1989, Dario Vecchio has been operating tourist trips and boating tours in Gaeta. Gaeta, a peninsula, is often referred to as a ‘spit’ of land nestled in the sea. Viewing it from the water helps appreciate its unique shape, which is genuinely awe-inspiring. Seen from the sea, one can gain a separate perspective of the Gulf and the coast.

  • Lungomare Di Gaeta - As soon as we leave the moorings, we will admire the Gulf of Gaeta, we will understand its somewhat particular morphology, we will have a different perspective of its fortifications, which seen from the sea make their grandeur more evident.

Afterwards, after the fortifications and the old village, you will admire the Church of San Giovanni a Mare, built in the 12th century overhanging the sea, whose dome can be seen from the Gulf. Then the morphology of the coast returns to enter the Oasi Blu di Monte Orlando regional park. This is a protected area. From inside the oasis, we could see the Castle from both the Angevin side and the Aragonese side. The famous phrase at the time when the Castles were prisons “I’ll send you to Gaeta”

Gaeta from the sea allows one to see all the ancient city walls and fortifications. History and legend comes alive. - Our guide was especially considerate of our limited mobility. He made us feel safe and welcome, helping us navigate the ramp to board the boat and disembark. We had a small group so got lots of personal attention. Everything was explained clearly in English and in Italian. We were very pleased with the experience.

Fun boat tour of Gaeta - Wonderful short boat ride - this complements an afternoon of hiking and walking around the peninsula by letting you see things from the other side! If doing it again I would have taken the boat tour on the first day and hiked the second but it was a beautiful day and we had a lovely time anyway!
