Coffee Farm Tour and so much more - Four of us took the Coffee Farm tour to Coloma outside Bogota with Parche Cachaco tours last week. We were just flying into Bogota for the day from Cartagena and Ginna and Diana did everything they possibly could to make the day great and worry free. They met us at the airport and returned us later that evening. Our van transportation to Coloma's farm was perfect and very spacious. It was about a 2 hour, gorgeous ride to Fusagasuga. After a tasty snack on the way we arrived to the Coloma farm and got an excellent and educational tour from Julian, Afterward we sampled the wonderful coffee and coffee liquor. Our next stop was a huge lunch at Restaurante Maya, followed by a much needed nap on the way back to Bogota. Ginna and Diana found out that my friend, a coffee shop owner, was interested in some burlap coffee bags and they made a detour to Cafe de La Fonda so that she could buy a few for her shop. Nice special touch! The icing on the cake that was our perfect day was our last stop at Museo del Oro where we had a coffee tasting and an education on brewing at their cafe. I can't say enough about the professionalism of this company! Their excellent communication prior to our tour via email and WhatsApp and their flawless follow through the day of the trip left all of us incredibly impressed.

Changed our mind about organized tours..... - As people who always thought organized tours are inpersonal and boring, a full day coffee tour changed our mind. It was professionally organized and expertly delivered from beginning to end. The pick up from our home in a comfortable vehicle, the breakfast stop on the way to the hacienda, the thorough tour of the hacienda, the lunch at a local restaurant, the various coffee making demonstration upon returning to Bogota and finally a lovely gift upon bidding us farewell. The tour was extremely informative and we never felt rushed. Two thumbs up for this tour company !

NOT an English Speaking tour ; did not follow itinerary - This tour had many problems and was very disorganized; it was improvised every step of the way. Keep in mind : we had a manager of this tour company with us on the tour in addition to the driver and the guide. 1. Pick up was half an hour late (pretty standard with these tours.) However, we got to the plantation four hours later than on the itinerary. 2. When we finally got to town, we missed the tour we were supposed to go on at 11am and had to wait until 2pm for the next one. We did not "enjoy typical snacks" in the town and went straight to lunch. 3. Lunch food was good. 4. Plantation tour: this was the best and worst part of the whole experience. This plantation is absolutely stunning, beautiful views and many exotic plants. HOWEVER. The guide from the plantation itself speaks no English, so our guide was supposed to translate for us. Our guide spoke absolutely minimal English, definitely not at the level to conduct these types of tours. For instance, he didn't know the words "dry" "roast" "shell", and many others which are critical to understand the process. He kept asking a bilingual person on our tour to translate for him - what?? It was very upsetting to pay so much money for this tour to get this level of English. 5. We did not go to the Museum of Gold, but to a different random Cafe. This was a good tasting and latte art demonstration. The people at the Cafe spoke much better English than the guide. Overall, this was very stressful and frustrating. I recommend just hiring a translator and a cab to take you directly to the plantation, as it will be much faster and cheaper. It should only be about 1.5 hour drive and the tour at the place itself is much cheaper. This plantation is located in a safe area.
