- Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Monte - Going towards the mountains, all the way up to Monte city. Prepare to be mesmerized with all the lovely plants, and one of the most visited churches on the island, Monte´s church.
August 15th is when the day of Lady of Monte is celebrated and is the most important and most attended feast in Madeira Island.
All of these fun facts and so many more will be explained to the clients by an expert driver/ storyteller.
- Monte Palace Madeira - The next stop will reveal one of the biggest attractions of Monte, the Monte Palace Madeira. This is one of the most visited, and adored places in the city of Funchal because of its immense and fascinating garden.
A stop of one hour and a half will be made here, to take photos, enjoy the space, and why not enjoy a cup of coffee at the “Greenhouse Coffee Roaster”.
This special place is not only known for its great variety of plants but also by its central lake that houses swans and ducks, some peacocks and chickens can also be found in the main areas of the property. So, be quick to take some lovely and creative shots.
Inside the park, there is also the possibility to be acquainted with the museum, The Monte Palace Madeira Museum. A space that has three floors, two dedicated to sculptures amongst others, and the third is where you will find a compilation of unique minerals.
- Associação dos Carreiros do Monte - The tour will come to an end at the famous Monte Toboggan, one of the most legendary charms on the island. This attraction dates back to the 1850s. In the 19th century, it was a typical means of transportation to go from Monte to Funchal city by the locals. Today is a mere attraction and anyone can enjoy a thrilling ride going down the hill.

André puts the FUN in Funchal!!! - Spectacular. Our guide André put the FUN in Funchal! Thank you TUKWAY Tuk-tuks. We'll ride no other if we should ever return to Madiera.

André puts the FUN in Funchal!!! - We initially hired Tukway for specific activities but when we got to the first activity, the line was so long André proposed a few other suggestions. We left the entire 4 hour trip to André and he really put the FUN in Funchal!!! André is a master at language (4 to be exact) and his knowledge of the area was tailored for our personalities. Right on, André! We'd do the Tukway TUK-TUK all over again if we could.

Gardens - We used cable car up to gardens .

Tuk Tuk Tuking Around - The Tuk Tuk is a great non-traditional way of seeing all the major sights and points of interest on the island. Andres was our guide and he was very nice, flexible with the schedule and always made sure we were comfortable. If you’re looking for a great time, book it!

Beautiful lookout and cable car ride - The views were amazing from the top and the cable car ride up the top. We took a lot of pictures. It is a lot of walking up and down once you are at the top. Not recommended if you have mobility issues.

A wonderful experience! - Luis was waiting for us just outside the cruise terminal on time and as planned. He is a fun, knowledgeable tour guide (born in Madiera) that made this Tuk Tuk tour extra special. Instead of the gardens, we wanted to explore the old town...not a problem. Very flexible in changing the tour.
The tuk tuk allowed us to explore all the little streets (and hills) that a coach tour would not be able to do.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour.

Fun experience - This was a great experience. My guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. We started the tour fairly early to avoid the toboggan queues, which was worth it because I did not have to wait when we arrived. After, I went to the Monte palace tropical gardens which was beautiful and I felt as though I had just about enough time to walk around to see it all before we had to leave. I would certainly book this again to view the botanical when I return.

Tuk tuk experience - The driver spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable with regards to history and fauna and flora. He picked us up on time and had no problem dropping us off where we needed to be .

Excellent Experience! - This was an excellent experience! Luis picked us up in the Tuk Tuk at the cruise dock right outside our ship. He arrived ahead of our agreed time, so we didn’t need to wait for him. A Madiera native who’s been driving Tuk Tuk for 10 years, he was pleasant, patient, very knowledgeable and flexible. Please note that the price includes only transportation by TukTuk for a couple of hours. The toboggan and Garden tickets are extra. This works well for a couple reasons: he’s a great, knowledgeable and flexible driver, the TukTuk is clean and well-maintained, we couldn’t walk the steep hills in the garden so chose to ride the cable car up to the top of the mountain instead. This flexibility is way less hassle than paying for something we didn’t use. The streets are pretty narrow so a Tuk Tuk is perfect for navigating tight spaces. As we had a very flexible and knowledgeable driver, we were able to have a private tour of the old city added in place of the garden tour. He knew right where we needed to go to ride the cable car and told us we’d need to wait in two lines. Same at the Monte Toboggan place. We had a great tour and would highly recommend this experience.

Puts a smile on your face - Had a fantastic time on our tour with Luis, owner of this 1st class experience. Nothing was too much trouble for Luis, and the tuk tuk was a great way to see old town, down the narrow streets up close and personal, to clinking the steep hills to Monte.
Will definitely be booking Luis again the next time we are there
