You don’t have to see the sun for a great sunrise tour! - The weather did not cooperate with us, but it was still a great experience due to the stunning beauty of Madeira and the creative and flexible nature of Nuno, our guide, who did everything he could to give us a great tour, which other than the clouds obscuring the sun, was a lot! Life is easy when your Plan A works out. It’s when you have to redirect to Plan B or even Plan C, you see the real value that a guide like Nuno brings to the table (or Land Rover, in this case). Bravo, Nuno! Obrigado to the Hit the Road Madeira team.

If you're going to be up at the crack of dawn - make it for this :o) - I actually went in September 2022 - sorry I'm so late sending this but what an incredible experience. Our guide was brilliant! A raconteur of the finest calibre. We feel even more in love with the island with this tour. The weather wasn't playing ball so our guide quickly switched to a fantastic plan B and we got to watch the sunrise over the city of Funchal after which our group got to do a levada walk and then a pit stop for some delicious breakfast. We were a small group and it was an absolute pleasure sharing the tour with other wanderlusters and the most wonderful guide. Highly recommended :)

Half day trip with lots of fun! - Our guide Fernando was great fun and brought the trip alive! He made sure we arrived in good time to get a good viewing spot! It is a very popular trip. Not to be missed!

It was a fantastic tour - Unfortunately it was too foggy on the Pico, the guide spontaneously rescheduled and had nice and interesting alternatives. Despite the fog and curves, he was a very safe driver. The day was fantastic! Hit the Road is perfect for touring the island - we booked three tours, all were great. Thank you! :-)

Exciting Experience - We were picked up bright and early from our hotel. Fernando was polite and engaging. We began our trip up the mountain to our destination. I have to say the ride up the mountain was exciting and terrifying at the same time. It is a narrow stretch of road that goes in a circular motion. It is pitch black and at times was covered in fog. Fernando reassured us many times that he knew those roads like the back of his hand and not to be frightened. We reached the top of the mountain and unfortunately the cloud cover never lifted and we had to go to plan B. We descended down the mountain, which was no less frightening and headed to a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. The spot Fernando choose was wonderful. After the sunset we went to a local store for breakfast. Probably the most inexpensive breakfast I have ever had. It was delicious and a very comfortable environment. Fernando then took us to other view points in the area. It was a great tour. I would try again to get to the top of the mountain, however I think I would choose to go in the daytime. That is all in your own preference. Hit the Road Madeira is a wonderful tour company and I would. use them again and again.

Greatest experience ever - We were so thrilled. We are lucky to had a nice weather to see the sunrise. Thanks to our guide to deliver us in advance and show the perfect spot. Also we were told a lot of interesting things about the island. We had fun.

Wonderful experience with a friendly and funny guide - What a lovely experience. Unfortunately, it was too foggy to see the actual sunrise at Pico Do Areiro, but Fernando made it into a lovely trip anyway. He brought us to other beautiful viewpoints, he gave us background information on the island and he is a funny and friendly guy. Whatever the weather may be... You will enjoy this trip!

Sunrise Tour. - Great trip up to the sunrise viewpoint, with our driver Fernando. Sadly the prevailing conditions obscured the sunrise. Fernando took us to a second location to try to see the sunrise, but sadly it wasn't to be. Thereafter he took us to other interesting locations which were beautiful to see and photograph.
