Additional Information
Following a pick up from your hotel around 6:00AM, we will take you on a scenic drive to Pico do Arieiro where we’ll witness the breathtaking sunrise at approximately 8AM. This spot, perched at a height of 1,818 metres, is the island’s loftiest viewpoint. As there are no open cafes at this hour, you will have the exclusive opportunity to enjoy a hot tea or coffee while viewing the sunrise. We offer a selection of coffees alongside sugar and milk, and three types of tea, all included in the cost of the trip. For breakfast, we provide a buffet that includes sandwiches, homemade cake, biscuits, water, orange juice, fruit jam, cheese, and ham. After the meal, we return to the Camacha area and embark on a lovely walk along the levada in the idyllic Paradise Valley, expected to take about 40 minutes. If the weather or visibility at Pico do Arieiro is not ideal for sunrise viewing, we will relocate to the Guindaste Skywalk Viewpoint in Santana to ensure you will experience a stunning sunrise.

Wonderful Tour and Great Guide - It was a once in a lifetime kind of experience. Got there early to find a great spot to see sunrise and it was surreal. Our guide Francisco was exceptional and made this tour a great success. Also did a little nature trail walk which was so refreshing and enjoyable. The breakfast offered on this tour was delicious, especially the orange cake.

Beautiful sunset, great breakfast - Sunset was beautiful. Blankets were provided which was very helpful as it was cold! Lovely breakfast in an old mill. Very cosy and authentic.

Amazing - This tour was amazing from the time Jorge picked us up til he dropped us off. Jorge was very professional and knowledgeable about the island and the sun rise. Breakfast was delish and the hike was amazing. Everyone should book the sunrise tour.

Great Sunrise at the top of the mountains and breakfast - We were in a small group of 6 people and the guide was great. Saw the sunrise at pico do arieiro but it was very cold. We were provided blankets. The other guests were very nice and we had breakfast in an old cottage which was quite warm. Recommend 100%

Head in the Clouds - Our whole morning was pure perfection! Jorge was incredibly gracious and provided us with blankets. When we arrived back to our meeting spot he had breakfast waiting in a quaint old barn. They brought everything we could need. He then gave us instructions for a beautiful Levada walk and met us on the other side. The views & the caring experience made our trip extra special. Definitely recommend this tour!

Amazing sunrise in fantastic location - Fantastic to be collected at 5.30 and taken to the top of the mountain and be directed to the right spot for the amazing sunrise. It was spectacular, well worth the early start. This was the highlight. The breakfast provided was good but we felt that the location could have been more scenic. And the walk was pleasant but felt it could have been longer and more interesting given the Levada walks to choose from. We were just left feeling we wanted a little more from the morning

Weather rather spoiled the trip. - Arriving at the summit in persistent drizzle and visibility about 50 meters - no sunrise! Picnic breakfast cold and limited. Subsequent levada walk was lovely and definitely the best bit.

Taxi trip perhaps an alternative?! - Unfortunately, a low pressure system had rained and stormed during the night. So much so that we could hardly see our hands in front of our faces. It was still storming and raining heavily. We could only sit in the car. It would have been fair if the organizer had cancelled or postponed the tour. The breakfast was very good and at least in a hut.
We were then allowed to do the Levada hike alone without a guide. He just picked us up at the other end. No explanations etc. etc.... No mobile number in case of an emergency... the guide was supposed to be in German but was completely and exclusively in English.
It's a real shame and it had nothing to do with the lack of sunrise.

This was ok but expensive - Seeing the actual sunrise was nice enough, but the rest of the trip was a bit lacking. The guide was a nice guy who tried to give us bits of information, I just don’t think this trip justified the £120 I paid for two of us.
How this could be improved:
The drop off at Pico Areeiro - the guide just gave us blankets and pointed to a dark path, perhaps he could walk us down and show the best spot to take? It felt a bit like we had been abandoned, the guide got back in his van and fell asleep once we walked off. This location might also be a nice spot to open the flasks of coffee and give us all a hot drink since it was quite cold.
The breakfast- it was served in a bit of a run down barn, this was fine and the food was fine too. Just not a particularly scenic place to eat and as I say perhaps this could be done where we actually watched the sunrise, or a more scenic spot?
The levada walk - again dropped off out of the van, given very loose instructions to walk forwards and cross two roads before being met with the van again, it would benefit from a guide at this point to maybe talk a bit about the island or the types of plants/ trees there were. It was just a very brief walk along a path on our own, the views were nice enough but it wasn’t the most spectacular location to be honest.

Not worth the money - I understand that weather is unpredictable and uncontrollable but charging over €60 for a walk in the forest and coffee with biscuits was a bit too much. Better cancelled it than taking people up for nothing
