Superb trip and knowledgeable driver - We have been with Mountain Expeditions twice before and found the online booking process easy, so we could be assured of a seat before we arrived. The driver was multilingual and knowledgeable about the island. Some of the off-road routes took full advantage of the lower gears on the Land Rover! We saw the variety of the vegetation from one area to the other, and different to other trips we have taken. Highly recommended and would use again when we come back to Madeira in the future. Amazing way to experience Madeira - Fabulous day out with diverse itinerary. We had done minibus tours to west and nUns valley earlier in week and i now wish we had opted for Jeep tours on all three. Fun and great for seeing scenary and taking pictures. Really got feel for Laurelsilva Forest and the back road of Madeira. It was also good to get out and walk some stretched of the Lavadas… this definitely gave me a taster for coming back and doing more. We had an amazing driver Dino who kept us entertained and was very knowledgeable. Also very competent and good driving. Hadnt appreciated all the different types of fruit, vegetables and flowers or the scale of the Levadas systems and Laurelsilva forrest.

Incredibly knowledgeable, charismatic, accomodating host - The host was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and very charismatic. They added a personal touch and when the weather got in the way of some of the itinerary, they made sure we had a great selection of other locations to visit.

Santana Combo - Honestly this is the best expedition we’ve ever done across our travels. We got picked up outside our hotel exactly on time, and got introduced to the driver, Dino. Dino explained what we would be doing and where we would be going. The beautiful views that we saw were truly amazing, and Dino would always explain the island, and tell us interesting history about it too. Don’t be put off by the walks, the walks would only take about 30/40 minutes but the views you get with them were great. We were able to travel to the rum distillery and were able to try samples etc. A special thank you to Dino the tour guide. He made the guide so much fun, and he is great at what he does. He allowed us to see so much of the islands and was able to answer questions that we had. He never rushed us when stopping for pictures. Honestly recommend this tour, and if you get Dino you will be truly blessed.

Best excursion ever with amazing tour guide! - Dino was the most excellent tour guide who gave us what felt like a really personal and private experience. The 4x4 trip is a MUST, especially this one as you get to see so much stuff and do such a variety of things. Dino was so funny, personable and kind to us throughout the trip and went beyond to ensure we had the most fun! He is a credit to the expedition team. This was the best excursion we have been on out of all of our holidays around Europe. Thankyou!

Mountains, cliffs and walks. Great day out - Our guide, Miguel, was a great host and kept us well informed throughout the trip. The trip includes 2 very easy Levada walks. The first in Ribiero Frio leads to a spectacular viewpoint of the mountains. I particularly enjoyed Pico Ariero. At 1800m, we were above the clouds! Brilliant day out, with rum tasting too.

1000% recommend! - 1000% recommend. I did 8 tours over the course of my trip to Portugal and this was my favourite. The views at Pico de Airo were incredible and breathtaking, off roading was so fun, the jeep comfortable and clean, guide was professional and knowledgeable and the day was planned well.

Great experience - This was a great tour!! After some misunderstandings first,which were solved professionally, rest of the day was 5☆ Our guide, David, took us to roads and places we wouldn't normally know existed. His knowledge of Madeira, living on the island, flowers, trees was very good.And his humour was top and the tour was funny. Tip: if you will avoid sitting in the back of the jeep book a private tour. We were 4 persons, 1 in front and 3 in backseat, which was no problem.

Fantastic day out in North and West of island. - We had an excellent day out visiting the north and east of the island by jeep. Ruben our guide was extremely knowledgable, friendly and informative and really made the day special. Despite bad weather at Pico Arieiro which limited visibility the journey up the steep roads to get there was exciting and made up for this. We fitted in two short levada walks, sections of off road, an excellent meal at Santana and a visit to the stunning area of Sáo Lourenço. Great day out and another big thank you to Ruben!

Trip for oldies who like the uncomfortable car. - Trip for someone young who like seating in the uncomfortable car.Most of the time you spend in uncomfortable car. When I asked to close the roof because of when wind which gave me a headache and feeling unwell, the driver said that he has to ask the other customers. Honestly nothing special, wouldn’t go for this trip anymore. And once more. At the beginning of the trip the driver asked us if we want to go for a lunch to the restaurant he re recommends or do we want do searching. I was interested in the trip ont the food, but businesses is business. The worse thing was the trip supposed to be in English language, but cutting cost they mixed English and French language- 😭😭😭. Talking in French made me angry.
