- Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio - One of Madeira´s most beautiful viewpoints at the end of a short levada walk.
- Miradouro Pico Dos Barcelos - One of the best viewpoints of Funchal offering a panoramic view of all the city.

Really glad we did this - We had a fantastic day out, starting with sunrise at a special secret location (after a bit of bouncy off-road driving). There was no one else there, and it was lovely to be served coffee and cakes as the sun came up!
The rest of the day was excellent and exactly what we hoped for. A good number of special sites and great advice on where else to visit, things to do, and restaurants to try.
I was surprised by how busy some of the well known sites are, but by taking a tour, we managed to mostly avoid the crowds and did not have to spend ages trying to park.

A high point of our two week stay on Madeira. - This was our first ‘private’ tour with Hit the Road Madeira and it was fantastic! A bus tour can be a great choice for some things, but Hit the Road excels at curating an experience that feels less like a tour and more like hanging out with a friend who wants to show you what is special about Madeira and sharing their own excitement about the island. Jeff took us to some stunning places that seemed almost undiscovered by other tourists, and told stories and gave us great background on what we were seeing. Whether you rent a car and explore on you own or book a Levada walk with a tour group, I suspect your best and most memorable experience will be seeing Madeira with Hit the Road Madeira. It was certainly a high point for us and one of our favorite days!

They Are The Best - This was our third tour with Hit The Road. Hugo was a fantastic tour guide! He was able to navigate around the weather and saw beautiful locations. Needless to say there will be a fourth tour on our next visit.

Wonderful day exploring the island! - We had a wonderful time. Mountain to sea with adventures in between. Our guide Hugo was very knowledgeable and fun. Took us to all the local spots. We will definitely do this again! What a great experience!

Amazing tour guide, breath-taking scenery - We booked direct and did the Sunset half day tour with Hugo. He was very friendly, and put us at ease straight away. He was extremely informative which made the tour that extra special. He took us to some absolutely beautiful locations. We were given ample opportunity to take photos. The tour ended by watching the sunset at the top of Pico do Arieiro which was breath taking. We cannot recommend this tour enough!

The highlight of our holiday by far! - A fantastic experience from start to finish that absolutely made our holiday!
Our guide Fernando was brilliant. His knowledge about the island, its history, nature, politics and people, is incredible.
He was able to stop and point out sights and things we would never have known if we had gone by ourselves.
Nothing was ever too much trouble and he really looked after us, booking a wonderful restaurant table for lunch and assuring all drop off points were easy for us to access the attractions.
A truly wonderful experience we shall never forget!

Magic - What a cool trip it was! We start with a beautiful sunrise at Pico fo Areeiro. Magic!
Then our guide Nuno showed us the interior of north-eastern Madeira.
You came across roads where you normally wouldn't drive, nice stops, lots of information and a lot of fun. Along the way we made Instagram videos together, which the children found downright funny. A very successful day!

Not what we expected - We weren't so lucky with the weather, so we didn't get to hike this day. The tour guide was very nice and informative, but unfortunately we expected more than what we got, especially when it came to lunch. Seemingly some hotel with an overpriced menu is part of the arrangement, even though we did mention we wish to eat where the locals usually go. The response we received was "you can't always get what you want". So paying €300 and get such an answer was not nice, to say the least. I don't recommend it for such a high price. Even if the weather is bad, we rented a car later on and got to discover the island ourselves with some research and information given by happy locals.
