Pico do Arieiro - This Tour (Walk) starts off at the reception of your hotel, between 9:00 and 9:30 in the morning; we will stop in a shop so you can buy water, snacks, fruits and other things that you might want or need. We will leave at the first point of meeting with your Walk Tour Guide for this walk.

This excursion brings together two of Madeira Islands’ tallest summits and offers breath-taking sights. The route includes tunnels, as well as some tough climbs and descents that reveal splendid views of the mountain’s heartland. Along this trail, we encounter several caves carved from volcanic tuff, once used as sanctuaries for livestock and shepherds alike. Near the Pico Ruivo shelter, footpath PR 1.2 can be found, leading to Achada do Teixeira. Here, the sculptural formation of basalt named “Homem em pé” (Standing Man) can be sighted on the descent after crossing the Achada do Teixeira shelter.
