Worth visiting - Monte Palace garden is beautiful . We ventured up by cable car, then viewed the gardens . Peaceful and lovely throughout ,some museum parts , flamingoes and fish . You can watch people on the toboggans from inside . We did the toboggans afterwards which was great fun . Monte Palace is worth a visit

Wonderful Gardens - These are exquisite gardens and well worth a visit. While there is plenty to see in the way of flora, there are also lakes, swans and a flock of flamingos which were very vocal on the day we were there. There was also some peafowl - Cocks, hens and chicks. Fabulous food in the restaurants. Truly a delightful visit and much better than the Botanical Gardens.

Great way to spend a few hours - Al the times we’ve been to Madeira and we’ve always threatened to do this experience and now we have! It did not disappoint. The cable car whilst busy, moved smoothly and provided stunning views of Funchal. Then the Palace garden; lots of history between Portugal and Japan to discover as well as a huge variety of plants, flowers and artefacts. It’s chilly at the top with the threat of rain hanging in the air but that’s how Madeira gets its beautiful landscape. Definitely worth a few hours of your holiday

Beautiful garden recommended - View is beautiful. Lots of pictures of the flowers and the "balding" flamingos. Then with the sled down you really have to do. And then half an hour walk down and you're back in the center

Great value and highly recommended - 1st time to Madeira, so we decided to book a half day trip. We were collected on time, had a very informative guide and really enjoyed the experience as a whole. Would definitely recommend.

Watch out for taxi drivers! - Beautiful place to visit. Just beware that it's at the top of a very steep mountain and the teleferico next door closes at 17:45 while the park closes at 19:00 so, you are going to need a way to get back if you stay past 17:45. Taxis rip people off left and right. Example: from my hotel to Monte palace I was charged 16 euros (Uber is half the cost but I did not know ). From Monte Palace to my hotel, the taxi driver wanted 25 euros and I was sharing the ride with 2 other women he picked up. So, avoid taxis as much as possible! They also drive like crazy.

Empathy for the disabled - I gave the rating of 3 for a very personal reason because the setting itself is very beautiful although less flowery at this time of year. I just deplore the lack of consideration given to me, as the garden is very difficult to access but is not mentioned when buying tickets. The descent of the garden is a bit sporty, an electric car is proposed to go up to the entrance of the site for the sum of 5€. I show my priority card and then I am refused to get in the car, the same goes for the next round. It took me 30 minutes to finally be taken care of. I deeply regret this lack of empathy on the part of the very unkind young driver and the lack of information for the PMRs.
