cos levada. We enjoy a selected 6km stretch of beauty and typical agricultural fields of Madeira with the famous terraces. It is a very special walk with magnificent views over the Bay of Machico, where the Portuguese navigators made their first visit to the island of Madeira.

The Levada dos Maroços guides you through the valley of Machico, first discovered in 1419 by Tristão Vaz Teixeira and João Gonçalves Zarco. You might have the chance to sample some of the fresh produce sold by local farmers along the Levada.

Pleasant way to get to know about Madeira - A lovely gentle half day walk with great views. Our guide Sergio was very informative & entertaining. Pick up & Minibus smooth. Our driver Paolo was excellent on the busy Funchal roads! Unfortunately we missed the abundance of mimosa blossom by a couple of weeks. However the insight into local farming was interesting.
