So good I booked another half day tour - My son & his wife were in Madeira the week before I was due to fly there & during their trip they met Spencer, an owner of Madeira Inside Out, by chance who gave them his card which they passed onto me. I booked a full day tour for my first day on the island & it was excellent. Madeira Inside out only do private tours so you are only travelling with your own party be that your family, partner, friends or as in my case on your own. I was picked up at my hotel at 8:30am & we spent the next 8 hours driving around the island. Our first stop was at the fishing port of Camara de lobos & then we crossed the island & spent the rest of the morning & all the afternoon driving along the northern coast including Seixal, Porto Moniz, Santana & visited the Rum distillery at Engenhos do Norte. We stopped for lunch which I paid for in Porto Muniz. Spencer was an excellent guide (& driver) & would pass on a mass of information about the island. Whenever we arrived at a location he would drop me off & leave me to explore on foot after showing me the important places to go to. It must such a great day that I booked a further half day afternoon excursion - he was fully booked for the rest of the week & this was the only time available. On this trip we explored the north eastern coast which included some 4 wheel off road driving through one of the national forests - great fun. Both trips were excellent & a great way to see the island. I can't recommend highly enough

Wonderful Mystery Day Out - Don't Miss it! - Spencer helped us celebrate our wedding anniversary with a memorable mystery tour of Madeira! His passionate enthusiasm for his island and huge knowlege of Madeira kept us entertained the whole day. He found us some fantastic viewpoints despite a grey day and introduced us to a great eatery and Poncha Bar. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and parted as friends. Madeira Insideout's vehicles are in much better condition than some others we noticed as well! You won't regret booking this tour.

Exploring Maderia - Dinarte personalized the tour to what we were interested in as well as worked around the weather. He was very interesting and knowledgeable, fun to talk to. We enjoyed seeing the island from a locals perspective and to explore outside Funchal. Madeira is a very beautiful place with great natural beauty. We got to see many aspects of the island from amazing water areas, natural areas and local neighborhoods. The restaurant and food recommendations were wonderful.

Highly recommend! - We had a great day with our guide Dinarte! Dinarte kept things interesting for our entire family, including two young teenagers, and we learned a lot about the island.

Don't book that, book this, this is the crazy, super tour of Madeira you need to do! - What a fabulous day, with the loveliest man, Dinarte.
He loves Madeira and now, so do we.
We told him what we wanted (not touristy spots, quieter, nature, stunning views ...) and I said "Can we go to the west of the island", but having listened to us, he actually took us east, and had the best of the weather for the day, and exactly what we asked for. And more. He knows the island, and knew what would make a great day for us. And he really cared about us having a good time. He's got buckets of energy too - so be prepared for a ride, in more ways than one!
The lunch spot was the best food we had our entire stay on Madeira, and a bargain at 20 Euros for 3 courses including a glass of wine (I had octopus cooked over a wood fired oven, and it was totally delicious).
To top it all, we bumped into Dinarte the following day, in the small fishing village he recommended that we visit, and it was so lovely to see him again.
Having done another tour with another company that week, we can honestly say that this is most definitely worth the extra cash, and should be the one thing you do on your stay in Madeira, especially if you've never been before.
Thanks so much Dinarte, we may be back to have a coffee (but no cigarettes!) and a poncha with you in the future ;)

Our great tour of Madeira. - What a great experience we all had on our full day tour. Our guide Miguel was so knowledgeable and gave us such an insight to the history of this beautiful island.
We had plenty of time to stop and to enjoy a traditional Poncha bar where we watched & enjoyed fresh Poncha being made We also stopped at a recommended restaurant to enjoy some lovely Madeira food.
Will see you again in July for another tour.

The best tour! - We had an excellent day! The day was relaxing yet covered all the must see places and more. The guide/owner is super knowledgeable about the island and very hospitable. We fully recommend this company.

Wonderful tour in the north, east and south - We had a wonderful day together with Spencer, the weather could have been better - but Spencer was always on hand with the umbrella. He felt he knew every plant in Madeira and offered great insights. Since he lived in Germany for a long time, his German was perfect.
We can recommend him without restriction and wish everyone a lot of fun.
