Get ready for an island-wide sensory odyssey. During this 4-hour journey, our certified local guide will steer you through Funchal’s streets to explore food, wine, and culture in areas less traveled, allowing you to savor an assortment of local delicacies.
The tour covers all food and beverages, is open to children or vegetarians, and requires small groups for the sake of intimate discussions. The tour schedule is every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 1:00pm, and Wednesday at 10:30am.
- Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking.
- A small amount of walking is involved.
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.

Come hungry! - This small group walking tour through Funchal’s old town was a great intro to food & drink on Madeira. We did this on our first day, which meant we got a helpful orientation to the layout of Funchal. We enjoyed all our stops but the highlight was the local farmer’s market, which was vibrant and busy! My partner is coeliac and this was easily accommodated for him. Come hungry as there was more than enough to eat and drink!

Great food, wine, culture! - Had a fantastic afternoon and met some great people in our small group. Jacqueline was very knowledgeable about food, customs and history of the island and we sampled lovely local food and wines finishing with a visit to an original poncha bar.
This was a highlight of our holiday and we would highly recommend a visit.

Great way to learn about Madeira - The Food on Foot tour with Jacqueline was one of the highlights of our trip to Madeira. Jacqueline is very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to, and we really enjoyed spending half a day with her, learning about the island's culture and history while sampling delicious food. The tour offers a great selection of places and foods and, most importantly, shares the stories behind them. Highly recommend it!

Excellent tour - We were in Madeira for four days and this tour was one of the highlights for us. We learned all about this amazing place with our guide Jacqueline and tasted a lot of what the island has to offer. The tour had food, drink and took us all around the city's history. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting this paradise.

Great tour! - Our tour guide was great, shared lots of knowledge about Madeira and Funchal. The tour had a great selection of food and drinks, and our guide shared lots of knowledge about the food and drink of the island. Definitely worth it if you visiting Funchal.

Well organised, varied and very enjoyable - 6 of us went on the tour, unsure how much time would be eating, drinking or exploring Funchal.
We had seven stops, tasting and trying different foods and drinks. A very knowledgeable and gentle mannered guide. Plenty of info and local tastes.
Would recommend. Tour lasted approx 4 hours

Great day and great food - A beautiful day in Funchal with many tastings of all that the island has to offer from a food perspective. Our guides was great and the food was fantastic. We went back to many of the places visited. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Fabulous Tour - Amazing tour!! Our guide, Ana, was so knowledgeable, funny, and just provided an overall great experience for our whole group. The tour has multiple stops with plenty of different types of food (ie sweet, savory, fruit, cheese, includes traditional dishes). I was so full at the end. Totally worth the price. I would 100% do this tour again

Great food, mid tour - The food was great (particular highlight was the cheese shop), but the tour itself was underwhelming. It was slow, we could not always hear the guide and we felt like the explanations didn’t add much to our experience of the city. Overall, not worth it, especially not for that price, and would not recommend.
