Highlights
  • Funchal - Departure Location
  • Monte - transit point
  • Pico do Arieiro - The peak of Arrieiro is the highest peak accessible by car on the island of Madeira.
Every day it offers an incredible and different panorama provided by mother nature.
It has an altitude of 1810 meters of altitude.
  • Ribeiro Frio - In the heart of the Madeira Natural Park and with a fantastic forest around this valley.
  • Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio - The Balcões Viewpoint is located at the end of Vereda dos Balcões. Starting at Ribeiro Frio, this small trail follows the Levada da Serra do Faial, giving access to the Miradouro dos Balcões.

From this viewpoint you can enjoy magnificent views over the Ribeira da Metade valley. You can also see the Cordillera Central of the island, including the two highest peaks, Pico do Areeiro and Pico Ruivo, as well as, on a clear day, the cliff of Penha D’Águia.

  • Pico das Pedras - passing place

  • Santana - The Centro de Casas Tradicionais de Santana features some of Santana’s typical houses.
We also visited typical inhabited houses.
Close to Santana City Hall is the Santana Traditional Houses Center. It is a preservation area, expanded by the municipality of Santana, in memory of the local heritage.
Here we find some typical Santana houses, all adapted to current use, where you can buy a wide variety of local products and traditional handicrafts.

  • Restaurante Quinta do Furão - It is in this restaurant with a breathtaking view of the entire northeast coast of the island to Ponta de São Lourenço.
Lunch is not included but we recommend it.

  • Miradouro do guindaste - Magnificent view of the sea and the cliffs of the North coast.
    Fantastic

  • Engenhos do Norte - Visiting the historic Companhia dos Engenhos do Norte, in the village of Porto da Cruz, is experiencing one of the main living evidences of the glorious sugar production of the island, at the beginning of the 20th century.

  • Miradouro da Ponta do Rosto - From the Ponta do Rosto viewpoint, in Caniçal, there are excellent views of the north and south coasts of Madeira Island.

From this viewpoint it is possible to see both the north and south coasts of Madeira Island.

Great Day! - I went on the East of the island tour. It was wonderful - a lot of fantastic stops and sights. Including a small Rum distillery stop and tasting! We then went for an off-road track which was thrilling to say the least. This also lead to a fantastic spot for lunch. The additional wine tasting at a winery was really great, being able to enjoy the wines of Madeira while looking out onto Sao Vincente and the chapel.

Great way to see the island - Amazing tour of the East of the island. Our guide was Joao, who was absolutely brilliant. We loved all of it, excellent value for money. We got to see parts of Madeira we could never have found on our own, incredible scenery and Joao knew lots of local inside information. Thank you Joao for doing such a great job.

Great tours with amazing guides! - We did three tours - East, West, and Central, with Antonio, Nuno, and Antonio. They were AMAZING! The guys were funny, chill, and super knowledgeable about history, culture, and the flora and fauna of the island. We had a wonderful time and would recommend your tours to everyone we know visiting Madeira. Carol also made booking the tours super easy so everything was simple to plan. Wishing you guys all the best in the future, thanks for making our trip fantastic!

A great way to discover the island. - We did two 4x4 jeep tours with Adventureland during our holiday: West and East. Both times there were just 4 passengers in the Landrover Discovery plus our driverJesse. We loved both tours and enjoyed discovering the beautiful diversity the island has to offer and seeing places which would be inaccessible in a hire car. Jesse was an excellent and skillful driver who navigated every type of road with confidence and at a sensible pace. He was also a very pleasant and convivial guide who struck the right balance between providing interesting information about the surroundings and quiet times to just let the passengers enjoy the scenery. On both tours we opted for the 15€ lunch which was very tasty and great value for money: three courses plus wine. I would absolutely recommend this company and hope to use them again in the future.

Fantastic DayTrip! - We had a wonderful day with our guide and very capable driver, Antonio. He was full of information about flowers and plants and of the areas we visited on our 4X4 Land Rover trip. Antonio also booked us a table for our lunch at Quinta do Furao in Santana. That was a lovely stop with good food and a great view—very good choice to make the day even more special. He picked us up on time and returned us to our door. It was a terrific day and we are so happy we booked this trip. Thanks Antonio!

Excellent tour - We took the Adventureland East tour and were not disappointed. Our driver and guide Edi was excellent - his English and knowledge was first class and he briefed us clearly with a map at the start of day exactly where we would go. Lunch in Santana was very reasonably priced (we had the local scabbard fish) and overall it was an excellent day out.

Great day out!!!! - we booked this tour with Pedro in the office in Funchal, he was friendly and patient answering all our questions. The jeep arrived early with another man called Pedro who was delightful. on the day we went there were just the four of us travelling. Pedro is very passionate about the island of Madeira and rightly so. he enjoyed pointing out various plants and flowers, never rushed us and also pointed out dangers to us. the views on this excursion are quite breathtaking. hanging out the back of the jeep was great fun and Pedro was a very considerate driver warning us when to duck and hang on. we took our own sandwiches but you can pay extra for lunch. the levada walk of approx 45 mins is flat and easy with incredible views.Pedro took some photos on his own phone which he kindly emailed back to us for our return to the UK. Most definitely the highlight of our holiday, well worth the money, great experience and I would one hundred percent use this company for further tours when next in Madeira. Thanks Pedro !!!
