Mateo Mountain, towering at an height of 5200masl, offers an astounding view and is marked one of Peru’s most spectacular landscapes. You can also absorb the beautiful sight of other mountains like Chopicalqui, Contrahierbas, and so on from here. It is an ideal spot for beginners or anyone who is new to mountain climbing, paving the way for more challenging climbs later. The mountain can be accessed with ease; one could take transport from Huaraz to the mountain’s moraine, where the Punta Olimpica tunnel is located.
