Walsh’s Apartments - During this activity travelers will be thought the basics of our native sport in the beautiful country village of Freshford.
After a short introduction to the sport in a lovely old countrystyle pub in the heart of the village travelers will be brought to the beautiful green area within the square. Here, they will be thoguht the basic skills of ground strike, hand pass, solo run, and hand strike.
Afterwards, visitors return to the pub to enjoy a well earned drink and some traditional Irish music.

In Freshford, we invite guests to try their hand at hurling at Kavanagh’s Pub, an authentic Irish-style bar located in the heart of the village.
We offer guests a detailed presentation about the history and rules of Hurling. After guests have understood the basics of Hurling and its importance to the community, we take them to the green turf to let them experience the sport firsthand. Our trained instructors guide our guests in learning the ground-stroke, hand-pass, solo-run, and hand strike techniques. Guests will comprehend that mastering this sport isn’t as straightforward as top players make it appear.

A MUST do while in Ireland! - Such an awesome experience! Our family loved learning about and experiencing this (new to us) sport. James is such a great coach, is great with the kids, and his knowledge and humor were enlightening. If we ever make it back to Ireland we’ll be doing this again!

Highlight of our trip! - We are very happy we booked this experience to learn about the ancient sport of hurling and its pervasive role in the community. Additionally, it is always fun to get hands on in a new sport. Definitely recommend. James was both patient and entertaining as our family (all adults, some of us in the senior ranks) practiced ball and hurley basic skills.

First time players and we all had a fantastic time! - We had never heard of hurling prior to our trip to Ireland. What a blast we had. James was a fantastic instructor and our entire group of six was able to enjoy the afternoon. Something totally unique for us and adaptable for all skill levels. Then some Guinness and excellent conversation at Kavanagh's Bar after. What could be better!

Awesome family experience - We and especially our kids enjoyed the intro into Hurling a lot. James was a great instructor and even our youngest (7 years) picked it up very fast.
Highly recommend it to everyone interested in Irish culture / sports.

Awesome - Amazing experience. Our Coach was so informative and helpful. We have three young boys, ages 8, 7, and 5 and he was so patient and encouraging with them. Our boys are saying that this is one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland and we agree.

Fun and informative and a great cultural experience. - As a private tour guide I love visiting unique experiences with my clients and James offers a great experience. You will not only learn The History of the oldest and fastest field ball sport in the world, You also get to learn the skills and I would highly recommend it for families and people of all ages.
