Additional Information

My name is Don Burgess, a resident of Frederick who is captivated by heritage tourism and historical preservation, tools that I believe are crucial in maintaining and establishing a city’s unique character.

I’ve been fascinated with the history of this region for many years, so operating as Frederick Tour on Facebook allows me to blend my love for the past with my adeptness in present advancements. As a part-time professional photographer, I’ve taken photographs of Frederick, Harpers Ferry, and other areas that were displayed and purchased.

Brought the history of the city to life! - Don Burgess is a colorful character who had a lot of good stories that brought the history of the town to life. Although this was not the first visit to Frederick for either of us, this tour provided an extensive background for what we already knew about the city and the area.

Wonderful! - I booked the walking tour of Historic Frederick despite the fact that I live in the area and am already familiar with some of the history. I walked away feeling a lot more informed and entertained by Don who is a long time resident and fabulous tour guide.

Nice tour - Don is very knowledgeable and personable! It was only my husband and I on this tour. We had our own personal tour guide 😉 Enjoyed this tour. Allow extra time to walk the Carol Canal Park. Beautiful city!

Detailed and Flexible Tour in Frederick - Our tour guide was fantastic taking us through a 90-minute tour. What a charming town to see walking through and hearing details with our tour guide Don. He even gave us recommendations on some restaurants and places to hang out at night. We saw him at a local brewery and he was kind enough to walk us back to our Airbnb. It was a very safe place to visit at night and extremely clean. Very impressed. I will definitely come back to visit again.

Great storytelling from a passionate Fredericktonian - Don is a colorful storyteller with a sense of humor. His tour was intimate – like a (very knowledgeable) friend who takes you around their town and points out the cool bits, much of which you wouldn’t get from guide books and plaques. He integrates history, architecture, art, and contemporary life of Frederick. Don was super accommodating: I had a narrow window for the tour, and he made it happen with little advance notice (plus a generous, spontaneous tour by phone of Shepherdstown Battlefield from where I called him to set up the Frederick tour!).

Visit - I Don't want to have to tell your whole story about my visit. I don't mind answering questions, but I find these sorts of tell us a story. Things to be a pain
