Additional Information

The quaint Florentine district of Oltrarno is celebrated for its artisans and workshops, where you can take an immersive journey through centuries-old traditions.

Begin your tour at a renowned paper workshop, known for its extraordinary marbled designs, a legacy passed down from the 17th-century bookbinding artisans. Observe the creation of distinctive designs, some still in demand today and contribute your own touch to the marbling process; an enjoyable memento to take home!

Proceed to a leather workshop run by a local family. Despite the gradual outflux of leather artisans from Oltrarno since the 14th century, a few surviving workshops persist. Witness the family craft exquisite hand-stitched items.

Embark on a visit to a mosaic laboratory next. Mosaic art has fascinated Italy since the Roman era, but Florenceā€™s flavour under the Medici reign was a class apart. Engage with the artists who still breathe life into this time-honoured craft, painstakingly assembling ornate works of art from humble, rough stones.

Wonderful experience seeing local artisans in their work spaces. - Leticia was amazing. Seeing the artisans through her eyes and her helping with the language barrier was extremely interesting. Highly recommend.

Great multi-event experience with LivTours! - We had a great time visiting a leatherworking shop, a paper decorating shop, and a mosaic shop. The artisans were generous with their time, and we learned a lot about the process of making these handcrafts. Our guide Rafaela was with us all day (we did a Pitti Palace tour with her earlier, and she was knowledgeable and friendly. We had my 10-month old nephew and my 7-year old daughter with us, and they both had a great time too!

Great experience with private artisan tour with LivTours - Sara was great! We had a chance to visit several local traditional artisans-a ceramic maker, a paper maker and an artist who specializes in restoration and mini gold leaf paintings. We actually were able to each make our own gold leaf painting which was a wonderful experience! We fell in love with each artist and came away with treasures of our own. Sara was very relaxed and patient and did not rush us even though our purchase extended our scheduled time. We were a inter-generational family of 8 with 4 kids between 5-12 years. Would definitely recommend this tour and LivTours who knows how to create family friendly experiences.
