A short walk from the Ponte Vecchio, nestled in the bustling area known as the Oltrarno, amongst Florence’s most iconic streets, you’ll stumble upon the Pitti Palace, once home to the Grand Dukes of Tuscany.

The Pitti Palace showcases valuable collections of artwork including paintings and sculptures, as well as period costumes, silver, and porcelain. It boasts works from distinguished artists such as Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio among others.

In 1550, this prestigious spot was bought by Cosimo I de’ Medici and his spouse, Eleanor of Toledo, to serve as the new Grand Ducal residence.

Currently, the Palace is segmented into four museums: the Treasure of the Grand Dukes on the lower level, the Palatine Gallery and the Imperial and Royal Apartments on the first level, and the Gallery of Modern Art and the Museum of Costume and Fashion on the second level.
