Worthwhile climb into history - Memorable tours of beautiful towns. The medieval Orvietto was beautiful and on my own I probably would never have known to go there. My goal was Assisi and Orvietto was just a side trip. I would move there. It was so charming. There is lots of walking and this town is full of steep walkways and stairs. The view out over the landscape is breathtaking. Assisi is also a challenge for walking, but worth every step. The Basilica is something you will never forget. The lower and upper chapels capture history with work by Giotto and Ciambue are highlights.

Very flexible planning - We modified the Assisi/Cortona trip to go to Montepulcianno instead of Cortona. Staff worked very closely with us to arrange the schedule which ran over the regular time. Driver was wonderful. We did not realize how many steps were involved and he and Tatya, the guide in Assisi, worked together to help me (still recovering from lymphoma) get to the top of the city to complete the tour. Great trip and great folks to work with.

Assisi and Orvieto - Unfortunately it was rainy and cold. But it was an interesting trip into the Umbrian countryside. The destinations were worth it. We were concerned about our driver’s lack of attention to the road. He continually carried on a conversation with our guide and kept turning his head to look at him taking his eyes off the road. Not only my group but others appeared nervous. Our guide Constantino was very good. Solicitous and caring.

Great spots, just okay tour - While the towns were incredible and the guides were good, it was a bit overdone. The last stop of the day at the lake felt unnecessary. Very long day with lots of people. Would rather do a private tour and spend the extra money. There was minimal free time and what little time we had felt very rushed. Good basically threatened to leave without those that were not back on time. 50 minutes for lunch in Cortona and about 45-50 in Assisi

I thought this was a guided tour - First the beginning process was easy as we gathered and boarded a very nice bus. Our guide started off well by giving background information on Italy and the region. It started going downhill when she took us to the middle of Orvieto and abandoned us. We lost about 30% of the people and caused us an almost 1 hour delay. More of the same followed in Assisi where we were handed off to a local guide who did a good job. She had trouble synching with the original guide and caused us to tour the main church by ourselves. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.
