Florence Jewelry - We will meet in my own small creative workshop (10 minutes walk from the Santa Maria Novella railway station) where I’ll teach you, step by step, how to create a jewel using the technique of cuttlebone casting.This ancient technique, already known by the Egyptians more than 2000 years ago, is one of my favourites and it’s easy to learn. The cuttlefish bone is easy to carve to make a mold that will be filled with melted silver. After my instuctions it will be your turn to project and carve the bone into the shape of your own jewel. You will make your personalized pendant or ring, choosing from the proposed models; I will help individually to reach the best result. In the mold just carved I will cast the melted silver and you’ll see immediately the rough jewel. After the “hard” work we will reach the hidden garden of a small bar near my laboratory where I will offer you an aperitif and we will discuss together how to finish your jewel!

As an artisan, master jeweller, and an enthusiast of art and gastronomy, I am still exploring my future life aspirations. In the meantime, since 1982, I’ve been crafting jewels and imparting knowledge on jewelry-making. In 2013, I was recognized as a Master of Art by the Government of Tuscany. I enjoy interacting with new individuals, garnering fresh ideas, imparting my wisdom and sharing anecdotes about my craft and my city. An archaic casting technique that uses cuttlefish bone, known to have been used over 2000 years ago by the Egyptians, is among my favourite methods and it’s pretty simple to learn. The soft cuttlefish bone is easily sculpted into a mold that can be filled with liquid silver. Following my guidance, you’ll design and chisel the bone to form your unique jewel. You will create your bespoke pendant or ring, selecting from a variety of models; I provide individual support to achieve the best outcome. After creating your mold, I’ll pour the molten silver and you’ll be able to witness the creation of your rough jewel immediately.
