PORT ARTHUR HISTORIC SITE AND TASMAN PENINSULA

Tasman National Park - Departing Hobart/nipaluna, spend the entire day exploring the breathtaking Tasman Peninsula. Tasman National Park has some of the world’s tallest sea cliffs and we’ll explore several sites in the park such as Waterfall Bay, Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.

Port Arthur Historic Site - discover the UNESCO World Heritage Area of Port Arthur Historic Site. Here we’ll walk amongst the vast grounds of this open-air museum and learn about Australia’s best preserved convict settlement, before returning to Hobart this evening.

Hobart - We overnight in Hobart, providing you with an opportunity to explore Hobart’s beautiful waterfront and Salamanca regions in the evening, with plenty of dining choices.

HOBART > FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK

Freycinet National Park - As we venture north along the Great Eastern Drive, the highlight today is Tassie’s East Coast jewel, Freycinet National Park. At Honeymoon Bay we will gaze at the pink granite peaks of the Hazards mountains. Then, choose between a challenging walk to the summit of Mount Amos for incredible views across the park, or climb to the Lookout for lovely views to the iconic Wineglass Bay. You may wish to continue down to the beach and walk along its white sands and turquoise waters. At Cape Tourville, we’ll enjoy stunning scenery across Freycinet and across the Tasman Sea.

BICHENO > LAUNCESTON

Launceston - We spend the night in Launceston. This is a historic Australian city, Tasmania’s largest, and we often go out for dinner as a group at a local pub or restaurant.

CRADLE MOUNTAIN > LAUNCESTON

Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park - Get ready for an exciting day in the mountains. The alpine landscapes within Cradle Mountain National Park are a hiker’s dream come true. Choose a challenging walk to Marion’s Lookout or enjoy a less strenuous loop around glacial-carved Dove Lake. We’ll also look for wombats at Ronny Creek.

LAUNCESTON > HOBART

Cataract Gorge Reserve - Visit the scenic Cataract Gorge, just minutes from downtown Launceston. We’ll enjoy a short walk and keep a look out for wallabies along the river.

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary - We’ll meet Tasmanian devils at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, a conservation and wildlife rescue centre which is home to many other native species.

Richmond Bridge - Returning to Hobart via the colonial village of Richmond, we’ll check out the historic convict built bridge and other heritage buildings in what is called Australia’s best preserved colonial village. Following Richmond, our adventure concludes.

A great way to see Tassie. - We just did the Famous Five tour of Tasmania. It was fantastic. We had Tim as our Guide and he was very knowledgeable about plants, wildlife, towns etc as we toured Tassie. He was extremely helpful to the group. We had a mixed group of ages (21 to 78) and from many different countries. Solo travellers , couples and mates on the tour. Everyone got on and had a few laughs. There’s lots of walking, waterfalls and views as well lots of animals to see. There is So much to see and enjoy here. Motel accomodation is clean and good on this tour, not 5 star and that’s ok, it’s clean and comfortable. If I had one small gripe it would be that food in Strahan is either a rip off $42 a main at Hamers or The Kitchen ( sorry that’s Sydney /Melbourne Prices not a town of 700 people ) or barely average food at Molly’s or the Fish and Chips. So maybe tour operators need to reconsider this town. So for me Strahan was a disappointment. Other reviewers have mentioned this as an issue. Otherwise this was a throughly enjoyable and great way to see Tasmania with an excellent guide.
