Muscat – Sinkhole – Fins Beach – Wadi Shab – Sur – Ras Al Hadd
Bimmah Sinkhole - The tour begins in the morning from Muscat heading towards Ras Al Hadd, with the first stop at Bimmah Sinkhole. Swimming in the sinkhole lake is an option. Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, located in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in Oman. It features a lake with turquoise waters, measuring 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. Situated 600 m from the sea, between the coastal towns of Dibab and Bimmah village, the sinkhole was formed by the collapse of the surface layer due to the dissolution of the underlying limestone. To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality has developed a park around it.
Fins Beach - After visiting the sinkhole, the tour proceeds to Fins Beach, also known as White Sands Beach. This location offers a stunning panorama of strikingly white sands and a pebbly beach, with sparkling turquoise waters and a gentle, cool breeze.
Wadi Shab - The journey continues to Wadi Shab, a vast canyon gorge lined with palm trees, showcasing the impressive power of water descending from the mountains. A 35 to 40-minute hike through the canyon (walking shoes or trainers are recommended) leads to crystal-clear water pools. Visitors can swim through the warm waters from pool to pool, eventually reaching the last pool where an opening among the massive rocks allows entry into an incredible crevice cave with a small waterfall inside. Sunlight filters in from outside, turning the water a beautiful turquoise blue as water cascades down one side of the cave from the Wadi beyond.
Sur - The tour then moves to the city of Sur, home to the famous Arabian Dhow Factory, where traditional wooden dhows are crafted. The visit includes the old part of Sur, where most houses feature wooden doors and windows.
Al Hadd - From Sur, the tour proceeds to Ras Al Hadd for check-in at the hotel/resort. In the evening, after a buffet dinner, guests are taken to the Turtle Sanctuary at Ras Al Jinz. Here, a guided walking tour on the beach under the stars offers a high chance of witnessing Oman’s great sea turtles coming ashore to nest and lay eggs. With luck, visitors might even see baby turtles hatching from some nests.
Ras Al Hadd – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands – Muscat
Wadi Bani Khalid - The day begins with a drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the largest and most beautiful wadis in Oman. After arriving, a short 10-minute walk (walking shoes or trainers are recommended) leads to sparkling clear water pools, 9 meters deep, perfect for a long swim, relaxation, and sunbathing in the scenic Wadi Canyon.
Wahiba Sands - From Wadi Bani Khalid, the journey continues to the desert region of Wahiba Sands, also known as Al Sharqiya Sands. This spectacular desert covers an area of 12,500 square kilometers and is named after the Bani Wahiba tribe. It spans the northern and southern governorates in the Eastern Region, defined by a boundary of 180 km (110 mi) north to south and 80 km (50 mi) east to west. Enjoy the golden sands and experience dune bashing with an experienced guide.
The tour concludes with a drive back to Muscat.
