FES ⇒ IFRANE ⇒ ZIZ VALLEY ⇒ MERZOUGA DESERT (Night in Desert Camp) (467 Km/7 hr 30 min)

Fes - After an early breakfast at your hotel or riad id Fez, your English speaking driver / guide will pick you up as early as possible, 07h00 AM in winter time and 08h00 AM in summer ( that will allow you enough driving time to catch the sunset in Erg Chebbi ).

Ifrane - Our journey will commence in Fes and take us through Ifrane, a French-built winter ski resort from the 1930s modeled after a Swiss village.

Azrou Cedar Forest - As you continue your journey, you will traverse the cedar forest in Azrou and have an opportunity to spot monkeys. Your drive will take you through the Middle Atlas Mountains, characterized by scenic winding roads through forests, springs, rocky terrain, and Berber villages. You will then descend towards the Sahara Desert after a full day of navigating the breathtaking Atlas Mountains.

Midelt - During your trip, you will make a stop for lunch in Midelt, a town renowned for its fossils and rocks. Midelt is located halfway to your destination. After lunch, you will continue your journey towards Merzouga along the road.

Ziz valley view - After lunch, you will continue your journey, crossing the Ziz River and passing by towering palm trees and fortified Kasbahs on your way to Erfoud.

Merzouga - Take a break to admire the breathtaking view of a massive palm tree oasis, then proceed to reach Merzouga in the afternoon. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with mint tea and your guide, who will introduce you to your camels. They will then lead you on a 1-hour camel ride across the picturesque sandy dunes of erg-Chebbi, where you will experience the breathtaking sunset. Great tour of the Sahara Desert and the Atlas Mountains. - This was a great tour of the Sahara Desert and the Atlas Mountains. Hesham was an amazing guide. He gave us lots of historical information about Morocco and the region during the tour and also made sure that we had everything we needed along the way. I highly recommend both the tour and Hesham.

Best of Morocco - Great trip on the road, super well organised and definitely worth. I am a person that likes to walk and explore when on vacation, but this tour despite including some long distance covered by van, it will also give you plenty of amazing stops with time to explore, learn and enjoy the country and culture. Fouad aka Dozi, our driver and main guide (the tour includes other guides on various spots), was just amazing and immediately created a group of friends atmosphere that made the experience unique.

3 Day Desert Tour - Fes to Marrakech - Great tour for viewing a lot in a little amount of time. The dessert tour with camel rides was the highlight in the Merzouga desert! Hussain our guide was great, being able to communicate in numerous languages, very knowledgeable and charismatic! However, If you do not travel well this may not be the thing for you (8hours per day driving). There are also some early morning starts!

Great way to see Morocco - This tour was great! This was so much more than the Sahara and a great way to see more of the country. While there is a lot of driving, it’s worth being able to see different parts of the country. I do not recommend this tour if you only want to see the Sahara. The tour guide was helpful and funny. The minibus was great and comfortable. Accommodations were comfortable.

Fez to Marrakesh Adventure - We embarked on an unforgettable journey from Fez to Marrakesh, through the Atlas mountains, with one night spent in the desert. Our amazing driver, Aimed (known as the desert man), was an absolute gem. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, offering invaluable assistance and enriching our trip with delightful detours to charming spots for photos, dining and shopping. Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly endorse Aimed (the desert man) for an exceptional experience. Unfortunately, we had windy weather in the desert, so the stars were not visible and we couldn't enjoy the splendid sunset/sunrise we were expecting. We recommend checking the weather conditions before booking or staying for more nights. Riding camels was an absolute highlight, highly recommended for the thrill-seekers. However, our night at the desert camp left something to be desired. We felt a bit neglected and uncertain about the program. The atmosphere in the camp was a bit forced and very touristy, taking away the tranquility of the desert. Nevertheless, the conditions in the tent were exceptional and we had many food options. Despite these minor setbacks, our overall experience was truly memorable, and we enthusiastically recommend it to all adventurers seeking an authentic desert escapade.
