Initially occupied by the Sikarwar Rajputs, it was later seized by the Lodi rulers of Delhi. After the Lodis were defeated in the Battle of Panipat, Emperor Babur claimed the fort. Although briefly lost to the Suri rulers, it was eventually reclaimed by Akbar, who established Agra as his capital.

Thank you so much with this fun tour Taj mahal - We had great tour from the janu they given good services we started from Jaipur early with my driver Rajesh he was good driver and he drives car very easisest and had been comfort once we reached Agra i met guide Malik his nick name mak he really excellent in knowledge in the history English was very good easy to understand history beyond of my expectation I really highly recommend thank you so much

Excellent - all credit goes to Noordeen and Mehraj - We had a great trip! The company was great in terms of keeping in touch with us prior to the trip date - the night before, they sent across the details of the driver and tour guide and confirmed pick up time. Our driver Noordeen was absolutely excellent. He picked us up at the hotel promptly at 6 and treated us to a masala chai on the way to Agra. He is such a kind and lovely man, and made us feel very welcome and safe driving down the crazy roads of India. Our tour guide Mehraj was also incredible - he is very knowledgeable and an excellent story teller! He also happened to be an excellent photographer, so we ended up with some fantastic pictures at the Taj and Fatehpur.
A huge thanks to both Noordeen and Mehraj for making this trip so memorable and enjoyable. Couldn't have asked for a better dynamic duo!

Great driver, guide, and overall experience - I took a day trip to the Taj Mahal, from Jaipur. Mr Rakesh drove me 5 hours there, around Agra, then 5 hours back. He was extremely professional and a wonderful driver. Safest I have felt in a car, while in India. The car was a new Toyota SUV; extremely comfortable. We picked up my Taj Mahal tour guide, Shubham, once arriving in Agra. He was very knowledgeable about the history and details of the marble, inlays, and overall architecture. He did an excellent job of shooing away anyone trying to sell me photos/souvenirs/etc. He also took lovely photos of me. Great experience, great trip. Thank you!

Great experience - Rakesh was a great driver, funny, entertaining and with good knowledge of the area. Would recommend booking with him and Janu Private Tours when in the Jaipur/Agra area

Perfectly organised tour! - Perfectly organised tour! - The organisation was perfect! We could skip all the lines and got a lot of information about the history of the TajMahal. Everything was perfectly organised and we felt very comfortable and safe all the time.
We will surely book our next tour with Janu.

Wonderful travel with Rakesh Agarwal - I am very grateful to Janu privet tours for wellorganized one day trip to Agra from Jaipur. This voyage become more safe and pleasant in a company of wonderful person Mr. Rakesh Agarwal. I am a young woman traveling alone first time in India..certainly I had lot of worries and doubts choosing the travel agency. But in Janu travels they are the real professionals. Kamal contacted me immediately after internet booking and kindly confirmed all the details. In the appointed date the driver came right in time to pick up me from hotel. The car was clean and comfortable. On my request we also made a stop in Abhanary to visit the step well. The special thanks to my driver Rakesh. He was very professional and attentive during all long route to Agra and back. He is extremmaly polite, intelligent and respectful person. I felt me really safty in his company, following his kind advises. Also it was very nice to listen the stories from Rakesh about life in moderm India. I was lucky to have a driver and guide like Rakesh, thanks to him I got only good memories about jorney to Agra and felt me comfortable in India. In my next travels to India I will contact Janu travel again. :))))))

Highly recommended tour with Rahul! Plenty of time for the highlights, comfortable ride to Agra! - My husband and I booked three days of tours through Janu's Private Tours. The first two days we were in Jaipur working with our guide Surya and driver Rakesh. We were sad that Surya had other tours booked and could not join us in Agra, however Rakesh was available to drive us to Agra so we immediately jumped on the opportunity to have him for a third day. Although we were sad Surya could not come to Agra, we were so very happy to meet Rahul, our incredible guide in Agra.
Rahul was extremely professional and knowledgeable about Agra's history. He was easy to talk to and very approachable. Rahul knew everyone working at all the sites which came in handy in the extremely long lines over the weekend at Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. We had a lot of questions related to the history, architecture, art, and geography of the area, all of which Rahul was quick to answer due to his great knowledge in these areas. Like our other experience with Janu Private Tours, Rahul went above and beyond being just a guide. We felt like he was a friend immediately and we were so comfortable talking to him about all types of subject matters that we were curious about. We wanted locations to have a meal and Rahul knew all the best places. We also wanted to have photos taken at Taj Mahal so he offered to take the photos himself or to find us someone at the site itself. We were so happy to have Rahul as our guide because not only was he very intelligent, kind, and fun to be around, he also treated us to some amazing photos that we will cherish for our lifetime. Agra was a complicated place to navigate so we were thankful Rahul knew the best timings to visit sites and how to get to and from these places during various road closings.
Our driver Rakesh is a true trooper. He picked us up early in the morning and started the long drive to Agra. He made sure we were comfortable the entire time, regularly checking on us and if we needed anything. He was sure to make bathroom stops in only clean and reputable areas which we appreciated. On this particular morning, the fog was extremely dense and the drive was very difficult, we were happy to have Rakesh at the wheel to get us safely to our destination. With over 4 hours there and almost 6 hours back, we can't say enough about how hard this guy works to make sure passengers are safe and happy. Even though he had worked so much in one day, he was in great spirits, he's also a very funny guy!
Rahul is always welcome to our home in the US and we will never forget our memorable experience at Taj and Agra Fort with him. We will remember every time we look at one of the amazing photos. Highly recommend requesting Rahul for your Agra trip!
