Monkey experience was awesome! - Junior was fantastic! He was friendly, professional, and great with communication. He arrived right on time, which was much appreciated.
The tour started with a visit to the sloth sanctuary in the Gamboa Rainforest Reserve. It was nice, though the orchids weren’t in season, so the nursery didn’t have much to offer. The butterfly garden was nice to see, with a variety of beautiful butterflies. We also saw some tiny poison dart frogs in their exhibit and learned about them, which was interesting. The sloths were a fun part of the experience as well. The entire tour through the exhibits lasted about an hour and was perfect for kids—my 10-year-old son really enjoyed it!
But the monkey experience was the best part! Junior joined us on the boat ride, and the weather was perfect. Went through the Canal, saw different wild animals, and we got to see and feed three different species of monkeys, which my son absolutely loved. That was definitely the highlight of the tour!
Just a heads-up: the Viator price covers transportation to these locations. The Gamboa portion is a separate tour through the reserve with its own entrance fees, and the monkey boat ride costs an additional $30. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and would definitely do it again!

You need to do this tour! - We arranged our tour through Viator. Junior reached out to us and we arranged pick up at our rental property. During our two hour drive, Junior shared some educational info on Panama. He then dropped us off at Gamboa Hotel and Sanctuary. We had a 45 min wait before we started our first tour - highly recommend going to the pool and getting yourself a pina colada while you wait and walking the hotel property, which is beautiful! We then spent an hour long tour of their frogs, butterflies, turtles and sloths. Junior was not part of this tour, he waited for us in the van.
After this Junior drove us to our stop for Monkey Island, we were a small group of 4, and no one other groups joined us. The boat ride to
Monkey island is about 15 min, and during the ride you get a lovely tour of the Panama Canal, the huge ships and smaller islands that surround it. We stopped at 4 mini islands, to see four different kinds of monkeys. The experience was so wonderful and Junior was able to coax these beautiful creatures on to our boat. My girls absolutely loved the experience and myself included. We stopped for lunch on our way back. Ask for Junior!
Bring exact cash too!

Itenerary was misleading - Junior was really nice and friendly. We found the itenerary of this tour misleading though. The itenerary states we would be stopping for lunch and then souvenirs at some outdoor markets, however we drove there (2 hours), did the boat tour, which was a lot of fun, and then we had to ask to stop somewhere for souvenirs, which was just a little shop along the way back. We were not offered to stop for food or drink, and it was a 6 hour day. Junior was nice, and a good driver, but not over informative regarding local attractions along the way. We were happy with the boat tour part of things, but for the cost for the tour plus the additional $30 for the boat, I’m not sure I’d recommend . The boat part of things also has to be paid in cash. I would have rather it was all paid for the tour and then junior pay the boat guide rather than handing junior cash and watching him and the boat guide count and split the cash. His vehicle was air conditioned and seemed to be in good running condition which was nice. The photos under the heading of “monkey island tour” are also misleading as they show attractions that you will not see.
