Fancy Aurora Viewing Cabin - This is the fanciest place to view the aurora I found. We were picked up on time by the cabin and driven to the cabin. The cabin was extremely nice, a large warm room with big windows to watch out for the aurora. The owners also kept everyone happy with snacks, hot and cold drinks, hot dogs, instant noodles and even pizza. There were even board games to play in case people weren't interested in being outside in the cold to see the aurora.
Outside there is a very large field for aurora and star watching. We were lucky as there was a great aurora for the first 1-2 hours, so beautiful. The owners also built a small wood fire, for warmth. Lights in the cabin and outside were kept off or very dim so there was little light pollution for viewing.
There were a ~40 people there the night we went but the cabin did not feel crowded at all, plenty of chairs and tables around. This was the fanciest place I could think of to view the aurora.

A Cozy Way to Wait for the Aurora - My mom and I went at the end of March 2025, excited to cross the Northern Lights off my mom's bucket list. Unfortunately, the day we originally booked was cloudy, but Joy kindly offered to reschedule.
Due to the rescheduling, the tour was more crowded as several groups were combined. David picked us up from the hotel a little late, but that was understandable since we were second to last on the pickup route, and the van was full. The cabin was spacious enough for everyone, though it did feel a bit crowded. It was clean, cozy, and warm, with a unisex bathroom. Snacks, drinks, and board games were available, and they even made pizza and hot dogs for us, keeping us comfortable while waiting for the aurora.
When the Northern Lights appeared, we headed to the backyard for viewing. The path was slippery, and while some gravel was laid down, more would have been helpful. A small suggestion would be adding extra gravel or laying down mats along the path. We came prepared with a spiked cane, which helped my mom navigate the walk.
During the brief and sporadic aurora viewing, David took our photos. Due to the larger group, he had to work quickly to make sure everyone got at least a couple of shots. He was very efficient and sent the photos to us via AirDrop or email before we left the cabin.
Overall, it was a great experience. The cabin provided a warm and comfortable space to wait, and despite the larger group, the tour still offered a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Northern lights - Hosts were very attentive and knowledgeable.
Felt as though they could have done a better job of making the walkways less slippery. Perhaps more cinders.... perhaps mats....
Great place to view the aurora - very dark and cleared of any trees.

5+ Stars for seeing the Northern Lights - Joy and David were the best hosts! What a fantastic (and warm) way to see the northern lights! We did not see the lights until 12:30 pm, so we were warm, well snacked, lots of board games and educated on how to take pictures using our iPhones (thanks Joy!) David took pictures of our group that were amazing and downloaded the images that evening. So easy and great pictures of our group. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience and would book again and again!

Great! - Joy and David are the excursion operators and took great care of us. The aurora were mellow but Joy never lost enthusiasm and was so kind to everyone. Great location, the drive is a little scary if weather is bad but we drove it and it was good.

Amazing experience - highly recommend - We spent two nights with Joy and David experiencing the northern lights. They provided an amazing experience the whole way through - they picked us up from our hotel promptly, the viewing cabin was warm and stocked with snacks, and best of all, the lights put on a great show for us! Joy and David were very kind and knowledgeable. They even allowed us to stay later for better viewing opportunities at the end of the night which was so appreciated. We loved the included photography and had the best time! This was a bucket list trip for my dad’s birthday and we felt so lucky to see the lights twice in a row!

Great Location for Viewing Northern Lights - This was our 3rd time to aurora camp. The cabin is warm and cozy and there are lots of things to do and snack on. They have a screen that monitors the solar activity. There is a great viewing area outside the cabin, so you can stay warm and comfortable until you want to go out. Having a restroom is a great advantage to the mobile tours. Joy is very friendly and makes you feel at home. David is very helpful with camera settings and takes wonderful photos of you with the Aurora Borealis.

A Cozy Aurora Adventure: Exceptional Hospitality and a Glimpse of the Northern Lights - Great! Based on that, I’ll help you craft a blog post focusing on the hospitality you experienced and the aurora viewing adventure, while offering insights for fellow travelers hoping to catch a glimpse of the northern lights. Here's a draft for your blog post:
---
**A Cozy Aurora Adventure: Exceptional Hospitality and a Glimpse of the Northern Lights**
If you're someone who dreams of experiencing the magical aurora borealis, you know that the journey is often as important as the destination. We recently had the chance to take part in an aurora experience that was both delightful and unforgettable — and it was the warmth of the hosts, Joy and David, that made it truly stand out.
**Arriving at the Experience: Warmth in Every Way**
From the very start, David made sure we felt welcomed. He notified us of his arrival at our hotel, a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the evening ahead. Upon arrival, it was clear that this wasn’t just about chasing the northern lights; it was about creating a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
Joy, the main spokesperson for the evening, was full of enthusiasm and incredibly knowledgeable about what we could expect. Since the weather wasn't ideal — a thick blanket of clouds obscured the sky — Joy guided us through what we could still hope to see, even on a cloudy night. She kept an eye on the aurora tracker, giving us live updates as we waited in the warm and cozy indoor space.
**Comfort and Camaraderie Amid the Clouds**
The setup was perfect for a chilly night of aurora watching. The indoor area was warm and inviting, offering a variety of snacks and drinks to keep us comfortable. Pizza, hot drinks like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, as well as chips, popcorn, and even some healthy snacks were available. It was the kind of atmosphere that made it easy to forget about the clouds outside — especially when surrounded by good company.
One of the highlights of the evening was the sense of camaraderie. Joy and David encouraged interaction between the guests, fostering a friendly and welcoming environment. Even though we were all there to see the northern lights, the shared experience of chatting, snacking, and waiting together added to the charm. And though the conditions weren’t perfect for a full aurora spectacle, we were able to catch a few fleeting glimpses of the northern lights, just a few specks of green peeking above the trees. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to leave us in awe of nature’s beauty.
**Attention to Detail: Clean and Comfortable Facilities**
A small but important detail that added to the experience was the cleanliness of the facilities. The unisex restroom was kept spotless throughout the evening, making it clear that the hosts truly cared about their guests’ comfort. It’s the little things like this that elevate a good experience to a great one.
**Tips for Future Aurora Seekers**
If you're planning an aurora adventure of your own, here are a few things I learned from the experience:
1. **Be patient and flexible.** The northern lights can be elusive, and sometimes, the weather just won’t cooperate. But with the right attitude, even a cloudy night can be a memorable experience.
2. **Enjoy the journey.** While seeing the aurora is undoubtedly the goal, the warmth, hospitality, and atmosphere provided by Joy and David made the evening unforgettable, regardless of how much we saw in the sky.
3. **Bring your curiosity.** Even if you’re not lucky enough to catch a full aurora show, you’ll still leave with a deeper appreciation for the natural wonders of the world. The tracker and Joy’s expert insights made the waiting part of the experience as educational as it was enjoyable.
**Conclusion: More Than Just the Lights**
In the end, this was more than just an aurora viewing trip. It was an experience defined by the genuine hospitality of our hosts, the warm atmosphere, and the opportunity to connect with fellow travelers. If you're looking for an aurora adventure that focuses not just on the lights but on making unforgettable memories along the way, this is the kind of experience you’ll want to book.

A good way to view the Aurora - I was not at all sure what we were getting when the four of us booked this through Viator.
It was touted as an aurora viewing experience.
What it is is a nice cabin at the top of a mountain. It is fairly remote which is kinda the point so there is less light pollution.
The cabin has big windows and a bunch of tables. The thought is that you sit inside in the warm cabin and play cards and eat snacks and wait for the aurora to appear. Much nicer than sitting freezing in your car.
The hosts had access to the most up to date info on KP values and had a link to the local fancy cameras from the university.
They had a lot of snacks available and even made hot dogs and small pizzas for the guests.
Unfortunately the first night was so cloudy that there was almost zero chance of seeing anything. They keep the cabin open from 10PM until 2AM. We had been up most of the day so we bailed at midnight when it was pretty clear that the clouds were there to stay.
We returned the next night and got a great experience. They have a decent viewing area with almost no background light pollution. We even got to watch a rocket launch from the university in the distance. very cool.
One of the hosts had a fancy camera set up and got photos of those who wanted them. They also had a lot of information on how to set up your own cameras and iphones to capture the aurora.
Overall it seemed like it was worth it because we did spend a couple hours waiting before the aurora showed up.
