Exploring Grenada’s Untouched Northern Beauty
Drawn by the allure of Grenada’s untouched beauty, I embarked on a journey to the island’s north side. The promise of panoramic views and a taste of island life was too tempting to resist.
A Journey to the North
As a former professional surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s call, and the Caribbean has become my playground. When I heard about the Grenada Northern Tours experience, I knew it was time to explore the island’s north side. The promise of panoramic views and untouched beauty was too tempting to resist.
The tour began with a scenic drive from the south to the north of Grenada. Our guide, a local with a wealth of knowledge, shared stories of the island’s history and culture as we made our way through lush landscapes. The anticipation built as we approached the Unnamed Road, where our adventure would truly begin.
The hike to the Welcome Stone was a bit of a challenge, but as someone who thrives on physical activity, I embraced it with open arms. The path wound through a dense forest, alive with the sounds of nature. Each step brought us closer to the promise of a breathtaking view, and I could feel the excitement building within our group.
The Welcome Stone
Reaching the Welcome Stone was like stepping into another world. The panoramic view stretched out before us, revealing the entire north side of the island in all its glory. From this vantage point, we could see Levera Lake, Bathway Beach, and the distant outlines of Green Island, Sugar Loaf Island, and Sandy Island.
The sight was nothing short of spectacular. The vibrant blues of the ocean contrasted with the lush greens of the landscape, creating a scene that was both serene and exhilarating. I took a moment to soak it all in, capturing the view in my mind’s eye as well as through my camera lens.
Our guide mentioned the proposed development that threatened this pristine view, and I felt a pang of urgency to appreciate it while it remained untouched. It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of preserving the natural beauty of our world.
A Taste of Island Life
After descending from the Welcome Stone, we continued our tour with a visit to some of the island’s hidden gems. Levera Beach was a highlight, with its golden sands and gentle waves inviting us to relax and unwind. As a surfer, I couldn’t resist the call of the ocean, and I spent some time riding the waves, feeling the familiar rush of adrenaline.
We also explored the charming local villages, where we were welcomed with open arms by the friendly residents. The taste of fresh coconut water and local delicacies added to the authenticity of the experience, giving us a true taste of island life.
As the day came to a close, I reflected on the adventure and the memories we had created. The Grenada Northern Tours had delivered on its promise of breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences. It’s a journey I would recommend to anyone seeking to connect with the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Grenada’s north side.
