Tbilisi – Prometheus Cave - Kutaisi

Bagrati Cathedral - Bagrati church of the Assumption of the Virgin was built by King Bagrat III in Kutaisi, in 1003 AD. It is a marvellous example of domed-church architecture from the high medieval period, noted with impressive examples of stone carving. Cathedral is situated on the top of the hill called Ukimerioni and commands a splendid view of Georgia’s second city, Kutaisi. This was an ancient citadel, a royal palace and one of the most important castles from 6th to 17th c.

Gelati Monastery - Gelati monastery complex comprises the churches of the Virgin (the main church), of St Nicolas, of St. George, as well as the academy which was the centre of cultural and spiritual life. The Gelati monastery complex was founded by King David the Builder in the 12th c. It is noted by the finest examples of Georgian mural painting. Among them is the only surviving portrait of King David the Builder whose grave can be found at the gateway of the monastery. The giant 12th century mosaic of the Virgin with Child is completely unique.

Prometheus Cave - Prometheus cave - one of Georgia’s natural wonders providing visitors with breathtaking examples of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes.

Kutaisi – Okatse Canyon – Martvili Canyon –Tbilisi

Okatse Canyon - After breakfast we will travel to village Gordi where is located starting point of beautiful natural site Okatse canyon, we will start walking from the historical Dadiani’s forest and step by step arrive at the canyon, it includes 780 meter hanging trail on the cliff and panoramic view point, totally we will walk 2-3 hours till the last checkpoint. Enjoy breathtaking views on the way, green nature and unique canyon over the forest and river Satsiskvilo, canyon depth is 35-50 meter.

Monastery Martvili - After 1 hour drive we will arrive at the city Martvili to see Martvili monastery, at first founded in 6-7th century, in the yard you will see place where was happening sacrifice of babies to the pagan cult “Oak tree” in that time when there was paganism before the Christianity. At 11th century at this place was one of the powerful episcopacy “Chkondidi”.

Martvili Canyon - Close to the city we will drive to Martvili canyon, amazing place where we can walk on the small trail in a natural canyon of the river Abasha, we can see unique Kolkheti forests flora with impressive waterfalls. The canyon trail is very small and we will walk about 40 minutes.

Prometheus cave, discovered in 1984 and promptly set up as an exhibition cave, rests near the town of Tskhaltubo in Georgia. As Georgia’s largest cave, despite only a tenth being made accessible for tourists, it takes approximately an hour to traverse it. The cave insides are replete with subterranean lakes and rivers. Today, set in a specially designed 3km long landscape, Prometheus cave is one of Georgia’s most frequented tourist hotspots. It provides a breathtaking opportunity to fully experience and appreciate the glorious colors and ambiance of the underworld.
