The best ❤️ - It was one of the best experiences we had in Morocco so far. The whole family is so loving and welcoming and we really felt like home. The food was the best and even the minttea was the best we had in Morocco. We spent almost 4 hours at their beautiful home and learned so much. We would totally come back. Thank you for everything ❤️

A happy evening with a charming family - Hossein and Khadija were warm and welcoming hosts. First we shopped with Hossien in his local neighbourhood, then returned to thei home for mint tea and pastries. But the fun started when we gathered in the kitchen to help cook. Khadija is a wonderful chef and her knowledge of spicing is excellent. We all helped and learned how to make, flatten and fold msemen bread. Delicious. The two taglines we made; lamb and chicken were simple the tastiest we have ever had. A really happy evening with a charming family.

Such a kind and wonderful family, and absolutely amazing food! - I genuinely do not have enough nice things to say about this family. They are some of the most incredibly kind and lovely people I have ever met and made this into the most wonderful experience. Hussein met us by the pharmacy and took us around all the shops to buy the ingredients and also helped us to buy any spices of our own should we want them. He even ran off to get me and my partner water when we mentioned that we were thirsty. Then we went to their beautiful home, and met their entire family all of whom were incredibly sweet and friendly. They put out a whole spread for us and made us fresh mint tea, whilst Hussein chatted to us about his life, our life and a whole host of interesting stories which really made you feel really at home. Then we began the cooking lesson with Khadija who was as knowledgeable and helpful as she was incredibly kind and friendly. She took us through the whole cooking process for 2 mains, two different side dishes and we even made the bread from scratch which was so much fun. During breaks whilst we waited for things to cook, we sat round and (badly haha) played musical instruments with Hussein, Khadija and their children. The whole time they went the extra mile to make you feel completely at home. I feel like I learned so much from the cooking lesson, and will definitely be trying to recreate these dishes at home. And at the end of it all, the food was simply the best I have ever had in Morocco, it was just stunning. Khadija is one good chef! Cannot recommend this experience and this lovely family enough. An absolute must do!!

Incredible experience - a must-do in Essaouira - The highlight of our whole trip to Morocco. Khadija and Hussein were incredible hosts and went above and beyond to make our experience special. The food was incredible and we learnt a lot about Moroccan cooking. Alongside this, we learnt about Moroccan culture and living.

An experience you won't forget - We are so glad we booked this experience! Khadija and Hassan were perfect hosts and so generous with their time. The amount of food they showed us how to make was unreal and you will not leave hungry. Everything, and I truly mean everything, was delicious! We brought our 5 and 7 year old kids along and they played with Khadija and Hassan's son most of the time and had a blast while also helping out make the meal from time to time. By the end you will feel like family, cannot recommend this experience enough! Absolutely worth every penny!

A must do when in Essaouira - Thank you Khadija and Hassan for this wonderful evening cooking with you! You opened your house to us and we felt really welcomed and had such a great time. This was truly the best tasting food that we tasted while travelling Morocco - the best Couscous for sure! We will come back when we are back in Essaouira- that’s for sure! Thank you so much, much love, Anette, Wolfram & Almut

Traditional food in private kitchen - perfect! - This cooking class was very personal at a private kitchen in somebodies apartment. We were only 3 people attending and we cooked delicious food, traditional Moroccan dishes.

Don't miss this experience! One of the biggest highlights of our trip to Morocco. - Kahdija and Hussein are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They made us feel like we had been friends for years. Their hospitality is exceptional, even for a country like Morocco known for amazing hospitality. We "helped" make four dishes in their kitchen. We learned about what we were making and the ingredients and also about Morocco as well. It was really as much of a cross-cultural experience as a cooking class. Then we got to sit down with them and eat what was made and it was incredible. They also shared the recipes with us so we can try our hand at making it back home. I cannot recommended this experienced more highly. They are two amazing people (the kind the world needs more of). You can't go wrong signing up for this experience.

Great friendly and cultural experience with wonderful food. - Among the highlights of this trip to Essaouira was the evening with Khadija and Hussein. After signing up, we received a friendly message with a range of food options, allowing them to prepare for our ‘cooking class’ the next evening. It’s really a dinner in someone’s home, prepared participatorily. We walked to the appointed location, and were met at 6 pm by the very friendly Hussein who escorted us to their home nearby, an apartment overlooking the local street market. A conversation and a welcome cup of mint tea, then it’s back into the kitchen to prepare the food. We made some beautiful bread (3 ingredients!) an aubergine starter (amazing) and a festive lamb tagine with s’ffa - so much food we couldn’t eat it all, and truly delicious. It was inspiring to see the use of local cookware like the tagine, and the food prep took about an hour. Overall we were delighted, and finished by 8 pm, well fed and happy. Importantly, the two hosts are great people, and open in their conversation, with really good English. As a “cultural exchange” it was great too, although we ate our meal alone without them. We would have preferred to share this abundance, as it felt a little awkward to not be eating with them. We will stay in touch with them and would definitely do it again. We recommend the experience to anyone with an interest in food and people, and who are prepared to go in with an open mind. We learned some new dishes and special techniques, and are confident that we could recreate this at home ourselves. Also, as Khadija and Hussein are friendly, it’s a great chance to learn about the lives of locals.
