Highlights
  • Eromanga Natural History Museum - On this tour you’ll meet titanosaur sauropods, Cooper and George, the largest dinosaurs to have ever been found in Australia. Titanosaurs are one of the last remaining sauropod groups in the Cretaceous Period and also were the largest ever land-dwelling animals. The bones of Cooper and George are the largest bones of any dinosaur so far discovered in Australia, which makes them the largest bones of any animal to have walked the Australian continent.

Our local guides have an in-depth knowledge of fossil hunting and delight in unravelling the mysteries of the past. They’ll demonstrate exposing the fossilised bone using specialised tools. You’ll also see the incredible Eulo megafauna fossils and other natural history collections.

It’s not every day that you get to touch a 95 million-year-old dinosaur bone!

A first-class tour at a first-class venue. - This was a fantastically good experience. in Quilpie we made a 100km detour in the opposite direction to where we were actually heading, and it was 100% worth it. The tour, information and displays were first class, and the actual building was architecturally stunning. I appreciate this because of my architectural background. We will definitely come again.

An amazing facility literally in the middle of nowhere! - Eromanga, the town furthest from the sea, is home to the Eromanga Natural Museum. While only a new addition to this tiny town it is a world class research facility dedicated to dinosaurs who roamed the area eons ago. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. The café and shop and reception area were welcoming and the range of items in the shop ranging from toy dinosaurs for little ones to opals for keepsakes and a good range of books. The biggest problem, surprising at a new facility, was the car parking especially for disabled. There wasn't any designated and certainly not close to the entrance. My husband has severe asthma and experienced distress returning to our car.

Fabulous! - We were the only ones on the tour which made it very special. We had Denise and her enthusiasm & expertise all to ourselves and were duly impressed with the work that is going on behind the scenes and the balance in the tour of film and actual examples. We got to chat with 2 volunteers at work scraping away. Not sure there's enough here for kids but nevertheless a special place. (You can take the kids to explore the great sculptures in Eromanga). Most of us have seen dinosaur skeletons in the museums of large cities but to visit a place devoted to them is awesome & all of the members of staff we connected with were super friendly and warm. We also stayed at Coopers Lodge accommodation and have written a review. We had done a lot of driving and felt that a stay here, although expensive would break our journey.

Awesome Dinosaur Experience. - Walked back through time with the aid of some informative videos, presentations and getting up close to fossils millions of years old. This place is awesome, the tour is really good and sounds as though it is only going to get better. Been wanting to do it for a while so it was fantastic to finally get here. Well worth the drive.

Worth the drive. - We had already been to Winton, Queensland, to see the Age of Dinosaurs and Lark Quarry, and enjoyed them both, but this museum is different again. The tour goes for 1 hour and after a short film introduction you go over to the museum. Here, you get to see the many different fossil bones up very close, as compared to the Age of Dinosaurs, and the commentary is interesting. Would definitely recommend going for the drive if you are in the area.
